Does anyone know what the Decal transformation values do? Every decal has translate/scale values but if you change them, the image is un-affected. I can think of some good applications if you could. Imagine being able to animate a decal moving across the surface. Or you could stamp a decal and position it below a foot.....then animate it to turn on and make a displacement footprint. There's even a relationship option so maybe you could link the decal to a bone. Pretty cool.

These do work, they're for positioning the decal before applying it.
KenH
Oh right. So, they can't be animated. Do you know how to use the relationship options if you right click on them?
3DArtZ
Yes. do you?
No seriously, I'm not sure if you were asking us or telling us:)

You right click on the value you want to create a relationship for.
then you have added the decal to the relationship pipeline in A:M
now you can create a relationship for a bone rotation or something and the
decal property will be available to you for adjusting in the bone relationship.

there is a tutorial about it on my site.... I'm not sure if the link is active though...
will check.

You can not animate the translate or scale properties of a decal with a relationship. If you find a way, let me know.
3DArtZ
Mark, because you can not animate the stamp.
But you can animate the other elements, like strength, tiling that sort of stuff.

If you make a movie file, you can make it look like the translate or scale is being
adjusted. But that would make a bigger map.

mtpeak2
I know Mike. Ken was asking about the transform data of the decal properties, not the image properties.
KenH
I'm asking because I'm not sure. Is this the tutorial Mike?

It's down, but would that not be possible by altering the strength (%) if the image map.....not the decal as a whole. What you say is interesting though. I'm going to do some tests.

I updated the link so that the ZIP file for windows is now active.
what are mac users using these days for compression files?

note, the file was made in v2004 and uses the "Legacy Bump" map.
when going through the tutorial just use bump instead.

thanks

Zip works fine for Mac folks. It's built into the OS now.

KenH
Thanks Mike.
