Was just thinking: His torso and forelegs should be whatever color Bill's coat was, and his rear legs, the color of Bill's pants.

Should/Does he have wings?

Should/Does he have wings?
I think so. He has to fly out the window after the witch does him. And he may be lofting a water bucket at the end.

My take on Grasshopper Bill. I modified Bills original mesh to get a similarity. He's about 15cm long.

Great job Ken. What about making the wings blue, like they are actually his coat tails which were transformed into wings?
His legs just have to be long enough to wrap around the bucket of water. Don't know how big the bucket is though...
He also needs a wooden leg.

Thanks. I'd say his legs would wrap around a bucket handle. Good idea on the wings...and dang I knew I forgot something!

The thigh section of the leg needs to be heavier, more muscular. The foot/toes could get longer. A thicker fringe of hair. But I'd say we're there.

It looks great to me Ken. Don't know how close you want to get to an actual grasshopper, but grasshoppers appear to have longer hind legs and wings. They also have two sets of wings, but for our purposes, one set will probably be fine. At the very least, I would vote for making the wings a bit longer.

A few small tweaks......[1] a little thicker on the hair, [2] a bit longer in the foot.

I would think that it would be a good idea for Capt'n Hopper's front appendages to be modeled with something almost hand-like (or at least hint at hand type thingies) to facilitate acting/animating choices.

I think that would look very odd. We could have done that, but we'd be going the Jimminy Cricket route. Even if we put hands on there, his joints aren't at all arm like and so wouldn't be able to move upwards. For all the talking he does as a grasshopper, I think we should be able to get by with facial and body movements/walks.

Actually - it looks like there are hand-like segments on the front appendages - the original drawing and I believe your model shows it - it was the very last modified image by Kel that obscured it. I wasn't implying he needed fingers.
Tho I must say: tis hard for me to wrap my brain around anything looking odd ? Given that this is a grasshopper with a human head, wearing a sailor suit with a peg leg

Hey, this
is OZ.....where the truely incredible happens though not the truely insane.

If you mean those feet thingys, then they're still there.
