Clay model by Robert (Kel) Kelley
Kelley
Another offering of Googly-Goo's little minions. A hasty mesh-sketch done today with equally hasty walk cycle, and a composit with minions gleaned from other drawings.
KenH
Are we going ahead with these guys.....considering they'll take up animation time when ever googly goo is around. Are they that important?

I think they're worth the comic relief. I'll take responsibility for animating them. [Gotta jump into the deep end of the pool sometime.]

Is anyone modeling the Minion yet? If not, I'll do it.
KenH
I was going to. But go ahead.
HomeSlice
Okey Dokey, I'll get started on it.
KenH
Sorry....forgot to add.....

Maybe you could use the TWO eyes....located on the svn in the Props folder.
HomeSlice
Are those the same as Ku Klip's eyes? I was using those, but if the TWO eyes are different, I can use those instead. Please let me know.
KenH
That's them. But the controls for the size of the irises and pupils don't seem to work in Klip for some reason. If we need that control, you can right click in the character model>import model and browse to here:

data\Shared Data\Models\Props\Ken's TWO Eye's

Pretty handy and the eyes can be moved in mirror mode. The pupils/irises then take on the required size in an action/chor.
HomeSlice
OK, I'll import Ken's TWO Eye's.
HomeSlice
Here's what I have on the minion so far. I haven't made any shoes for him yet.
KenH
Man, he is Ugh-leee. biggrin.gif Looking good. His head seems abit big somehow. Not sure.

Would it be possible to reduce the splines radiating out of the top lip? Even hooking off one would do. Thanks.

The reason the head looks odd is that it's not yet balanced with the jacket flaring as shown in Kel's tofu model & drawings. The head is supposed to be big & out of proportion.

Flare your jacket m'lord!

HomeSlice
Do you mean, flare the back of his coat out more?
NancyGormezano
Flare on sides, and back, and even in front some.

The other item would be the collar: wider for sure, taller perhaps?

and perhaps the wig should be lower on his forehead - with more pointy a crown to give him a more ridiculous look

But there will be variations on minions? So have fun with them. Silly, pompous people. Them, not you.

The trick is to make these guys pompous, not grotesque. Here the mesh-sketch I did on a Minion.
HomeSlice
I'll work on this guy some more this weekend.
HomeSlice
Here's the new minion.
KenH
Nice work! I still think his head is abit big for his body. But it's a matter of taste. I love the hair!
NancyGormezano
wonderful - I too love the hair.

(I think his head could be wider even, but love him the way he is)
Rodney
Great character. He'll be a treat to animate. smile.gif
HomeSlice
Ah shucks. Thanks. The hair was challenging. I was hoping y'all would like it.
Nancy, I too, am really happy you kept your hat in the ring.
HomeSlice
I finished rigging this guy. On to the next one!
Paul Forwood
Terrific character, Holmes! smile.gif
John Bigboote
Wow...look at that hair styling going on there! Great stuff!
