Hello everyone.

I have had A:M 11.1 for 2 years now going on 3 and just got done downloading the V.15 program on subcription basis. I dont know why Hash decided to stop the $99 upgrade but now what do I do with my 2 same exact programs??? unsure.gif

I mean, I have my $300 program that I bought 2 years ago and now I bought the newer version but as a subcription for $50. Do IUninstall the older one and now use the new program that will expire at the end of the year? or keep working on my unlimited V11.1 program that will last me forever??? huh.gif sad.gif

Also, when I installed V15, It was that same inerface as the V11.1 with no buildings, no sound files, and only a couple models. ohmy.gif
I know people say V15 if the best this ever but what really is the diffrence??? huh.gif

So if anyone can help me on answering these questions it would be most appreciated on letting me know what to do. unsure.gif laugh.gif

There is more data to download with the new v15 check the latest posts. you can keep v11 installed It will work as normal ..needing the cd to start.

It's sometimes hard to give up on the tried and true. I would definitely keep version 11.1 around (don't uninstall it) but as you start new projects, give the newer version a spin. I still have versions 14, 13, 12 and 11 installed, but I'll be deleting some of the older ones. The fact that it looks and acts the same is a GOOD thing...not a bad- we hate it when a MAJOR overhaul goes down(anyone remember V9???)...and Hash keeps things looking and acting similar for a GOOD reason.

There's a TON of updates and fixes, overall improvements and refinements. Not to mention a staggering list of new features. Also, you can feel good that your subscription helps keep the wheels turning toward future improvements.

Plus, you should be able to point your V15 library to the V11 files...no?

You will be able to bring your vers 11 work into 15 - however you will not be able to go back to 11 if you modify the models, chors in ver 15. So save under a new name until you get use to ver15. I believe there was a major data structure change in vers 12? 13? (somewhere in there).

Keep in mind you can use v11 on another computer to do models or other things that aren't dependent on the version. I have two different versions of AM, a "newer" version on the PC and an older version on the mac (non intel version). I can do stuff on the Mac version (modeling, decals etc) while the PC version is rendering for example. It is easy to open the stuff from the older mac version in the new PC version. I don't need all the bells and whistles of the newest version to create models.

As others have indicated v15 and v11 are quite different. They certainly are a long way from being 'exactly the same'!

The most recent improvements: Fluids, Non Linear Editing, Surface Baking (I need to investigate these myself!)
Previous features not in v11 include: Too many to list here so check out the links below.

Start with 2007 and work your way down!

http://www.hash.com/am2006/index.htm
http://www.hash.com/am2005/index.htm
http://www.hash.com/am2004/index.htm

These lists aren't all encompassing and many tweaks, plugins and enhancements aren't listed there.
For that I suggest exploring a bit for yourself.

Maintain the 2004 CD in a safe place as you may find you need it. I keep all of mine tucked away for a rainy day.
As has been stated, you'll be able to bring things you create in it forward with you.

Since you brought this up, i looked for the whole V15 Library. When you buy the subscription, you only get the basics and a couple tutorials. I downloaded the V15 library which came out to be around 150MB but then unzipped to be around 480MBs. I had a problem on the V11 libraries by having nothing showing so I relinked it by using this website.--> http://www.hash.com/lib/.
It did work but now for V15... wink.gif

It didnt work at all. Now that I have all the updated libraries for 2007, the relinking didnt work even though I over wrote it and made a new shortcut to it. I followed the same Library help but no luck this time. blink.gif

Anybody know the problem?? O yea, i did restart the program too

to get libraries working in v15, all you need to do is:
-download the zip
-unzip
-copy the data folder over the existing data folder in
program files/Hash Inc/V15.0

I Looked a the library content more carefully and i noticed that i needed to go deeper down into the folders to relink the actual library.
When you want to relink it you have to find where the V15 lib is by opening multipul folders until you come accross "Hash 2007 Library.lib"
Thats where everything is so now im up and running with all the new stuff and WOW these artists are really talented.

Once again thank you guys for all your help.
I wouldent know what to do with out this forum and the smart people who run it to aid people through this program.
