Here is my first Foley assignment. In order to keep the file size down for your viewing pleasure biggrin.gif , it has been rendered in mono sound and VCD size and quality.

One thing I did notice in the video clip that was provided, is there is an extra set of door knocks by Tin Woodman at around 23 - 25 seconds without him actually knocking on the door.

I am also still working on the timing of some of the footsteps when there is a closeup of Tin Woodman at around 1:25 through 1:33.

There are around 43 separate audio tracks in this scene for the effects, so tweaking levels, filters, etc. will be fairly easy to do.

Suggestions or comments anyone?

Thanks...
Al

Sound effects are pretty good! (Though other areas obviously need work...not your problem.) Perhaps the foot steps are a little too prominent at times......particularly the first scene.
You should note that I've since adjusted the shot where the three are walking behind the hill toward the end (Martin's request) and it results in slower steps. Though, I don't even think footsteps would be needed there are they're so far away.

Good work though.

Edit: Is it just here or does the hand hitting the bridge mechanism have the sound a few frames before the hit? Could be this end. Or my imagination, but it looks very like the sound occurs when the hand is still coming down.

I think the Fellini-esque quality of that edit comes from the shot prior to that being twice as long as the music it is supposed to fit to. The synch is gone after that point.

I would have adjusted the music by now, but the Audacity project has stopped working. mad.gif

Very nice work Al. This keeps getting better and better.

This is the first time I've seen all of these shots cut together.
I like. Very impressive!

Nice foley effects too but... I need to go back and watch a few more times.
I was so captivated by the activities and story they blended right in. I guess thats the goal. smile.gif

Thanks everyone for your comments.

My wife kind of though so too. Will look into toning things down a bit.

There is a bit of a swishing sound as the hand is coming down, which is what you may be hearing. I will check that out and if it is too confusing, I will remove it.

The best effect is one that you don't notice. This goes for both visual and sound effects. I watched (or maybe I should say listened to) Shrek on my PC with headphones. It is amazing all of the subtle sounds that are going on that you don't even clue into unless listening for them. However, if they weren't there, you would be saying that something wasn't right or was missing.

Thanks again...

Here is an update. Martin sent me the more of the 02_01 scene, so now the first part of the scene is being done. There was no other audio with this first part of the scene, so you will not hear any music or voices in it, just the Foley work.

Please let me know what you think...

Thanks...
Al

AL, you're showing a great talent with this stuff. I have no idea how you did it, but it really sounds superb.
