1. The yearly subscription - is it for one year from the time you buy it, or January - December?

One year from the time you complete the online activation

QUOTE
2. Does A:M expire after the one year?

Yes

QUOTE
3. Is this the normal price, or a special price that will go away soon?

Thats the new Normal price!

QUOTE
4. Is there shipping?

NO! Everthing is downloadable! That's another $15 savings!
ssappington
QUOTE
Does this now mean you need to be connected to the internet to use Animation Master?

--No, you only need to be connected during activation

QUOTE
What if you go back and forth between different machines to work?

--You'd need to buy a subscription for each machine

QUOTE
Will a CD still be offered?

-- Yes, for $299- It's also available in the store- it a "retail boxed" product with complete printed docs, the ExtrasDVD and the Program/Library CD

QUOTE
How about program updates, any changes? If one uses the CD version will there be any difficulties or will it be the same as the old system and the CD will validate the version? Does the CD version have any sort of expiration besides updates (if still using the old system for them)?

The CD version will operate the same as always. You will be able to download updates for one year with both the CD version and the Web activation version-
The CD version does not expire-

QUOTE
Will the usb dongle version still be offered? What will their expiration and update policies be (if any)?

dongles are no longer offered-
ssappington
QUOTE(nixie @ Dec 11 2007, 03:58 PM) *
It expires after a year? Do you mean the updates cease to work or the program itself expires?

The program itself expires-

QUOTE
What if we had scenes that used features not present in the cd that we own?! we cannot access those scenes past a year?

Either stay up to date with the Web activation version ($79.99 per year), or buy the CD version for $299, which does not expire, and also allows you to download updates for one year.

QUOTE
So there is no longer a $99 upgrade if you already have bought it for the first time? If you want the cd you have to pay $299 every year?

Yes, that's correct-
ssappington
QUOTE
'What if' a person with the 1 year subscription aquires a new PC or mac halfway thru the year... re-up?

We can deactivate your old code and issue you a new one-

I am assuming that if one keeps subscribing, that one can also keep using past releases (eg 13s, 14c) even if the current release is ver 15x and beyond? True?

No, you'd need to use the current version (or you can buy the CD version for $299) any version tied to a CD will continue to run.

Just want to clarify this:

A new "CD" upgrade will always cost $299? There is no more $99 CD upgrade?

The web upgrade will last one year and is not tied to a CD?

-vern

Yes, that's all correct.
ssappington
QUOTE
If I buy the CD version, how long does it last?

The CD version never expires, and you can download updates for one year.

QUOTE
If I get a web install, I can pay $79.99 right now and get the program and use it for 1 year?

yes, correct you would be able to begin using A:M as soon as you downloaded the installer and activated.

QUOTE
will there be a new CD version after OZ? cause I don't really want to buy old software...

The v15 CD will be shipping by Jan 1, 2008
ssappington
QUOTE
what's included in the "complete printed docs" that come with the $299 version -- TAoAM and the Tech Reference?

Yes, that's correct.

QUOTE
And will those docs be available for download for the users who go the $79.99 route?

Yes, as PDF's

The two machines I use for work are NEVER connected to the internet. How will I upgrade?

I would suggest the $299 upgrade.

1) The dongle is no longer going to be available.

- How will this affect people who want to develop plugins?
- Will we be able to use the debugger with the web downloadable version?

Yes, the Web activation version will work for developing plugins

About the CD version.....

what can I do with that. And what I want to know is will I be able to use every version of the calander year,
forever, like how the cd is now.
Or
is the cd only able to use the version it came with forever?

The CD Version will continue to operate the same as it always has-
ssappington
QUOTE(Dalemation @ Dec 12 2007, 12:53 PM) *
So the registration isn't tied to a certain machine? I can download the upgrade and the 'key' and transfer to another machine?

Yes, it is tied to a specific machine- after you purchase, if you decide to transfer to another machine, you can contact us, and we can deactivate the key on one machine so you can install it on another-
ssappington
QUOTE
Does the New CD version require the CD to be in the drive?

The web activation version ($79.99) does NOT require a CD in the drive, The Retail Boxed version ($299) DOES require a CD in the drive at startup-

Steve Sappington,
it seems that there is one more big question mark on the new system and we would really like an ans. to this.

Will the cd purchase allow us to use every version of the associated numbered upgrade life cycle forever

or

will the cd purchase only allow us to use the version that came on that cd after the year is up?

thanks,

Mike Fitz

CDs will work exactly like they always have- any releases done during the calendar year will be downloadable, and will be keyed to run off the CD- there will also be equivalent releases for the web activation version-

Just one question:

The way I work is such: I model and animate on one machine and when I'm done, I fire up another instance of AM on my other machine to render. Will this still work?

Nope, you'll need to buy two subscriptions- (or buy the CD)

QUOTE
What about the libraries that are on the program CD, do I still get those?

A limited data set (enough to get through the tutorials) is included in the installer- you can download the entire CD data folder HERE
Once you've downloaded and unzipped it, just replace the existing data folder that is in the same location as the Animation:Master executable.
For Windows, this location is /Program Files/Hash Inc/V15.0/
For Mac, this location is /Applications/Animation Master V15.0/

QUOTE
Is it necessary to own a previous version to buy the $79.99 subscription?

No! Anyone can buy the $79.99 subscription!
ssappington
QUOTE
If I upgrade my computer, is Animation:Master going to stop working like Windows?

Not likely, while A:M is keyed to a specific machine, the activation isn't nearly as picky as Microsoft- if you do encounter issues, contact us and we'll work it out.

QUOTE
So, there isn't a $99 upgrade anymore?

Nope, you can either choose the $79.99 subscription, or the $299 retail boxed version.
