2_02 lighting and texturing. Still have things to do.

Fantastic! Great work, as usual, Mark.

Oh my goodness! Is that the same scene I gave you to "touch up"?! (I think you took a photograph...)
NancyGormezano
very nice - interesting composition as well
KenH
Real nice. Any chance of putting in a few weeds on the paths? There's one (that I know of) in the miscellaneous props folder.
mtpeak2
Thanks guys and Nancy.

I'll see what I can do Ken.

Here's the next scene, alot of this sequence takes place in this camera view, til they enter the thicket.
KenH
Another good one. You really have the grass and trees down now.
But damn, that's an un-natural sharp horizontal line. I wonder if a displacement map would break it up. Also, it looks like there's a green splodge to the right of the top of the sign post. And are those shadows a tad bit sharp and dark?
mtpeak2
The green spot is a leaf that is part of the sign post. The set was already modeled, I'm just retexturing it. I'll see what I can do with the horizontal line, it's basicly the ledge to the stream below it. I planned on breaking it up with a few rocks here and there. as I said before, there is still alot to do. There's going to be alot of cleanup on these scenes as well, since they were animated to a flat ground plane.

Oh, and I was going to add a few dandilions here and there too. wink.gif

The new dirt-colored road is a real improvement.

I was sort of anticipating the sun would come from the left in these shots since this is late in the day and we are looking generally north .

A muscle mode pose can bring the path surface into line with the ground plane.

What does the scary forest end look like now?
mtpeak2
If the sun comes from the left, this will bring the sun to there backs in the first image I posted. This will also bring the sun infront of the scary forest, which I don't want to do, I want the sun behind the forest. Whose to say we are looking north.

The ground plane issue has been fixed.

I haven't done too much with the forest yet. I'll try to post something later.
mtpeak2
A quick setup of the forest.

It's that way on the map of Oz.

Through the story so far they have been going from screen left to right and west to east and they are going west to east here. That's a standard movie convention that when people are going "forward" they will go from left to right.

So I laid it out that way and planned it that way.

They'll be turning all different ways in this sequence. In the more significant shots they'll be facing screen leftish.

I presume there will be enough fill light that we can see them no matter where they face.
mtpeak2
Hmm.....from what I see from the take movies on the svn, most of the shots I see have the camera aiming to the left of the screen (towards the bridge) or straight on, unless you changed the camera in these scenes. If that is the case, you need to update the svn with what you have so I can see what needs to be done. So for now I'm not changing anything.

And I'm going to assume that the forest isn't what you anticipated either.
martin
Scary Forest looks great! In fact, it looks very much like the scary forest in the "Wizard of Oz" movie. (Did you know there's a whole dancing trees sequence in the Wizard of Oz that was cut? The only remaining footage is a home movie - but it looked like it would have been fun!)
