Full Version: Why Use Project Files?

I haven't been using project files and I've been wondering what advantages there are to using them.

I've been saving out individual files for models, actions and choreographies. This seems to work fine for me (although I'm not into any kind of heavy production jobs.)

I gather that project files save all of the things you're using into one place, but I've noticed that if I import a choreography file, all of the files associated with that choreography (models, actions, etc.) come in with it.

This seems to work fine for me (so far), but was wondering what I might be missing by going this route...

Curious to know how you experienced folks work.

I too prefer saving chors.

However on a project where I'll be swapping out a model and its proxy frequently, a PRJ will load both models in one swoop whereas a CHor will only load the model referenced in the chor.

Also if I'm developing a model and maybe have a chor that tests the lighting or the rigging, then a PRJ that has everything embedded is a handy way of keeping certain versions and experiments together. I can always save something out separately when I'm finished.
