Tin Woodman was curled up sulking so in this scene Scarecrow helps him up while saying "This love thing is getting rediculous!"

One useful thing I learned was how to update keys at the beginning/end of constraints so their position doesn't pop when the constraint turns on/off: Delete the constraint enforcement control point, wiggle the time-slider around and re-type the original enforcement value.

Animation is good....the only place I see for improvement is the lip sync.
Animus
That looks really good, TM has a very believable sense of weight.

Steve this is great work. Very smooth animating!!

The only thing I'd add is I'd offset the hand grab gesture between the two of them a little. They are both moving in to clasp hands at exactly the same time. I think this makes the acting look rehearsed. I'd have Tin man lead the "reach out" gesture and have Scarecrow respond.

Tin man's motion is excellent. As Michel stated and I agree, He has a great feeling of weight. The only thing is if you look at Scarecrow, he's doesn't show the weight transfer. If you were to have Scarecrow lean back and have his chest bone and arm lag a little as he steps back to pull Tin man up, I think the weight distribution would read better.

Finally, when Scarecrow pulls Tin man to his feet, you might think about adding a little overshoot or follow through to Tin man so that he sways slightly forward before settling into his last pose.

These are only polishing suggestions.

I agree with KenH about the lipsync.

This shot is very well done!!!

Ok, I've made a few minor changes...
  • Scarecrow's dialog is more pronounced towards the second half. (I agree that in parts it looked like he was mumbling... though it looked ok in the action window)
  • Scarecrow rolls his eyes slightly less.
  • Tinman overshoots his final position.
  • Scarecrow's chest and right shoulder move more to indicate a transfer of weight.
I haven't yet offset their hands coming together because that seems like more work and I'm not sure I can get the timing right without having to redo lots of later animation.

Although I think the phenomes in the lip sync could be a little better, I think Martin will be more than happy with this shot.

You did a great job Steve!!!!

Really well done! smile.gif

Yeah...it's still the last bit of the dialog for me (the first bit is hard to see so it's not so important). I think you need to get more of an "Rrrr" for the start of "rediculous" and then his mouth should open for E and shut for the U and then open again. As it is, it seems like it's just too open all the time. The movements just need to be bigger.....though not too big to have his mouth open like he's shouting. Lip sync is a tough balance to achieve.

I agree completely.

The problem with wide shots like this is (as Ken pointed out) you need to make your lip sync phonemes slightly larger than you would in medium or close up shots. I created a lip sync action once that from close up looked good but when I played it out from the wide camera angle, you could barely see it.
