Hi,
I need to make a perfect (or even looking) spiral. Actually I need a two splines (forming patches) to spiral out, the thickness of the patches getting larger as it spirals out. However, I'll settle for one spline in the shape of a spiral -- I think I can take it from there.
I have the zprial plug-in which I haven't used in years and, as luck would have it, my key for this no longer works (I've written the plug-in's creator). Is there another way?
Thanks,
Rusty

With the right setting you could make it with the duplicator-plugin. or the sweeper plugin.

With the duplicator plugin it's easy to do:
Create a circle in the front view and place it left or right to the Y axis. The distance to the Y axis will be the radius. Select the circle and set the pivot X & Z coordinates to 0. Use the duplicator plugin and set it to Extrude. Now change the Translate Y and Rotate Y values to get the spiral you need. (and of course the Repeat #)

Why not get a path say from illustrator which has a spiral tool and use it to get what you want ? Just a thought .

Very neat stuff. I wasn't even thinking of a shell when you said you wanted a spiral. I was thinking more double helix.
