It feels like their dropping to their knees too fast. I'd say at least another half a second to get down there. Maybe you could change the fact that SC and TG go down at nearly exactly the same time.
I assume you've yet to do facial work and Tinmans dialog.
Keep it up.

Thanks Ken

Added lipsync and a few small fixes. I purposly have them kneeling quickly and together to hide the fact that they don't look to good whilst kneeling, too much bending going on! Still a long way to go but how's it looking so far?

This is looking real good Steve.

Because your not done, forgive me if the suggestions I make here are obvious to you.

When GMW turns, his upper and lower body appear to be moving as a single mass. You should offset the hips and the chest bone so that the hips lead the chest a little. This will loosen him up a bit.

When Scarecrow pats GMW on the shoulder, you might think about adding a small reaction to GMW. If you look at it now, it's like GMW is too solid.

from frame 128-131 Scarecrow drops both of his arms at the same time. To prevent twinning, I'd suggest to offset that a little. Twinning is when 2 body parts (like the legs or arms) move at the same time. In animating it is recommended to not do this and offset the movement so one limb moves slightly ahead or on a different path than the other.

From 134-138 Tin man drops his arms at the same time (twinning).

From 123-133 Scarecrow moves his head pauses and moves his head in the same direction and path. It gives the perception of an unnatural "stop and go" movement. If your goal is to have a slight movement and stop then have another movement, I'd suggest to change the path and maybe vary the hold and ease in and out a little to break up the motion. Also you have both the head and arms of Scarecrow dropping at the same time. It would look more natural to offset this too.

As Scarecrow places his hand on GMW, his hand appears to move in a straight line. If you add a slight raising pose between the anticipation and the placement, it will create an arc and read much better.

From 139-202 after Tin man bends down, his hand is passing through his leg.

At 209 Tin man's forearm and hand just stop. I'd suggest adding a little follow through and some ease in.

If you look at Scarecrows patting, only his fingers appear to move. I'd try to add a little overlapping movement of his arm and again, have GMW's body moving slightly to the patting action.

144-148 Tin girls hands pass through her legs as she drops to her knees.

When they drop to there knees, You should ease in a little more IMHO.

The lipsync looks really good!!!

All in all it's coming along great!!!!

Please do not take my comments as judging. I'm only pointing out the things that I see that in "my opinion only" need a little work. Even a skilled animator can miss something that others see.

One thing I'll never do to someone who asks me to check their work is tell them I see something that doesn't look right and not give a suggestion to correct it. It helps no one to say something like," the arm doesn't look right" and not say why and give a possible solution.

Thanks for the comments George. I agree with you on pretty much all points. this is still pretty much blocked in no overshoot or overlapping added yet. That'll be added in the next couple of passes. I think I've got the general "acting" down. Finally. I'm pretty happy with the lipsync all I've got left to do is clean it up,Alot!!!

Slight update I think I'm about ready to start the clean up passes, overshoot, overlap, blah blah blah.........any comments?

The whole kneeling, if it were me, would have been a bold/huge undertaking. There were a lot of scenes in TWO that I had wanted to differerent things like this but they were just unworkable and beyond my talents wink.gif
Excellent work. Looks great.

Thanks! Yes the simple act of kneeling was actually quit difficult. This is the best I could get to make it look right. Who woulda guessed it.....

Hi Steve,

looking good!!!!

I like Tin man and GMW's poses. I really like the way you have Tin man relax in a sort of sighing gesture. I think that reads really well. GMW looks good. I like the eye rub.

Just a few suggestions:

Scarecrows movements seem robotic. He does a slight head movement and arm drop to look at GMW from frames 116 to about 125, pauses and moves again in the same path. I think if you removed that pause on both the head and arm and ease in to the final pose it would be smoother and read better. Also, the arms appear to be moving at the exact same time. To prevent twinning, you should offset the arm movements so they don't both get to the final pose at the same time or speed.

The hand pat looks good but if you have GMW sink a little or shift a little of balance as Scarecrow pats his shoulder, you'd have a better feeling of weight.

My last suggestion would be to ease out on Tin girls kneel. She bends over to support herself on her knees pauses only for a second and drops quickly to the kneel. If you eased in to the hand on thigh pose and held that longer and eased out to the kneel, I think it wouldn't look so robotic.

Great work and I hope this helps!
George
