Hey Dhar, It's already starting to look funny!

I won't get to a crit on this tonight so if you have time... can you think of a way to make the first pose stronger?

Right now his stance and posture is a bit too complicated and ambiguous. If you could form him into a simpler, more continuous line of action thru his body like this

(

rather than this

(
(

that would make the pose more clear. Try it, see what you come up with.

thanks!

Dhar
Tweaked the poses, but added some contrast to the line of action. Let me know if its OK.

Here's the crit, sorry I took so long!

Your gizmo makes your markings on the screen more controlled. Weird how everything is mirrored except for the frame counter on the render.

Anyway, I straightened/strengthened the poses. And this is how I did the overlap so that the hips lead the poses, I bsically exponentially delayed, by one frame each of the chest, then the shoulders, then the biceps, then forearms, hands and finally the fingers. So we have a total of six frames to finish the entire key pose/frame. I am so glad I changed to pose-to-pose animating, it makes everything else so much easier smile.gif

What I did was flip the movie in QT Pro so I could see it "normal" in my gizmo. Then I flipped again the screen caps so they would look right without mirroring, but it means the captured interface details are backwards.

No, I don't understand it either. wink.gif

Yet another gizmo movie

Looks good, Dhar!

thanks!

Added lipsync and facial animation.

Nice, Dhar!
Paul Forwood
Excellent!
robcat2075
That looks real good Dhar! biggrin.gif

Next... take mr. generic Winkie and pose him to replace that temp wall I put up. Don't scale any of them yet.

Come up with a few very non-attention getting "idling" cycles to put onthem and lets see what that looks like

tilting the head, shifting from one foot to another... stuff like that... very subtle crowd motions
PF_Mark
That's about the best work I have seen from you so far Dhar!! that's about as good as it can ever get! Wow you are turning out some incredible work latley all your hard work is paying off big time! You are an insperaction and I now after seeing this I am going to try my best to work harder and longer than I have been latley sad.gif
robcat2075
Hey, Dhar, the generic Winkie should have squetch built into him already so go ahead and make the Winkies different heights, but less than one head difference among them all.

thanks!

Dhar
Thanks for the compliments guys. If it weren't for Robert's selflessness, knowledge and grace, none of this would have been possible. Thank you Robert.

Um.... how many Generic Winkies would you like? Obviously, the more the Winkies the slower the render wink.gif

Edit: Added one Winkie Action.

just enough to replace that wall. they would all be facing/looking at Scarecrow

Edit: Added one Winkie Action.

That one looks like he's gesturing to his crotch. ("But officer, I thought I was in a cartoon!")

Now tht I've thought about this a bit more, perhaps it could be organized like this:

non-animated "actions" that create these

-arms folded
-one hand on hip, other hanging down
-one hand on chin, other hanging down
-both hands on hips (a hand on a hip would use IK and a constraint)
- others? what else do people do while they are standing around gawking?

The above actions would only keyframe the arms and hands.

animated actions:
-hip shift from left to right
-hip shift from right to left
-head shift from left to right
-head shift from right to left (head turns very slight, but might have a bit of torso turn in them)
-others?

by mixing and matching all the above we could probably get a varied looking crowd

I know that's a lot, but hopefully these can all be re-used in the parade scenes too.
Dhar
The face rig isn't fully set up. I can't make blinks.

Never mind, I can use the blink slider biggrin.gif
Dhar
here's a first test

Yup, that's the right idea! The slight movement really helps.

One note on the scarecrow. He's arriving and stopping like a rock. He needs to ease into that pose a bit more. I'm thinking he briefly eases up into that pose and then the "settle out of that is really the beginning of the move to the next "Wait" pose.

But back to the winkies... now that you're into modeling characters... would you be able to make some pose sliders to vary his appearance?

fat jowly face <-> thin gaunt face
big arms <-> bony arms
big chest <-> skinny chest
spare tire waist <-> thin waist
big butt <-> thin butt

Are sliders to control the color possible?

Dhar
Hi Robert,

I added 3 sliders to the generic Winkie for hair, shirt and pants color. I was able to change head and torso shapes using the squetch sliders. Tell me if this is closer to what you're after.

2_01_73_take
robcat2075
That's much better! Those shapes will work fine for the crowd winkies, i'll add a slider to make a more military figure for the band members.

The colors are a bit wild wink.gif we'll need to use a much more restricted palette, but you've shown the concept will work.

thanks!

That looks excellent Dhar!!

I'm not sure what stage of animation you are at so forgive me if I'm jumping the gun here.

The Winkie in the light blue: his eyes should follow scarecrow a little and the guy behind isn't moving at all as Scarecrow comes rushing in.

Scarecrow looks great!!!!!

robcat2075
This is the sort of range the winkies would be attired in. Variations on a subdued peasant pallete.

Dhar,

are the Winkie crowd actions committed to the SVN yet? and where would they be?

thanks
