Ok, so I was scheming my schedual, moaning about "all" the things I had to do, while seeking inspiration in different movies and pictures on my computers while browsing trough the forum.
Then I decided to make a project. A helmet was made, some armour was crafted, the creation of an ebil Overlord was underway. So why not use this Overlord-character in this contest? I mean, "The Lost World" might aswell be lost to a reign of terror, pain and destruction...
So here's the helmet and here's the armour chestpiece. Now my plan is to, depending on how much time I get to spend before the deadline, have the supreme overlord overlooking his newly conquered World, "The Lost World".
Me thinks it's a good plan, I just hope the execution is even half as good.
PS!
All models are modeled by free hand. No rotos (I can't draw), just a completely overlooked refference picture for the helm (who needs it anyways? xP). Crits are always welcome!
Cheers,
J

Something struck me while rendering it with armpieces: The "chest" is way too low. Gonna take some time to adjust it, but here's a minior update. Once the helm and upper chest and arms are done I'll post more covering screens.

Really nice work so far Joakim,
This will be interesting to see unfold, i certainly like the idea.
As you said the chest piece for a 'human' may be a bit too low,but you never said that it was human evil Overlord.
Good luck and welcome aboard.

Thank you both, means a lot to me to have two great animators like yourselves bump in.
Lol, yeah Jay, I guess an abstract Overlord could have a deformed chest, but it felt a bit odd anyway, so I fixed it by now (still looks a bit off, but it'll come to, I hope). I also fixed his back, as I didn't like the very steep part in the neck/upper back area.
Guess it's back to work, filthy maggot!
Um, sorry, been watching too much LotR lately x.x

Fixy fixy. Adjusted the back, chest, added spikey bones to the armpieces, added handpieces, a "skirt" which needs to be redone (the current design was ment to be a temproary one) and I just noticed some splines crossing some other splines they're not supposed to be crossing.
Here's another 360.
Oh and I figured, seeing as my Overlord is an evil entity, that he'd consist of a black cloud to save me some modeling time, meaing he'll be one big, black particle. ... or many small, black particles actually. Now all I have to do is learn about particles. Learn while doing ...and forget the next day.
Cheers,
J
Now I'm off to sleep and dream about my newly ordered comp *yawn*

Hello again,
Just to paint a better picture of what I'm aiming for, I started modelling the surroundings that will be behind the posing Overlord to show his story of reigning chaos and destruction upon the now lost world of *some name I'll come up with later*.
So here's a house and a fraction of earth that will be floating behind the Overlord. At the moment the house is just a plain model and the fraction of earth looks more like a, well, turd. Anyways, here they are.

Need... stuff... legs and stuff! Smoke! Fire! AAH!!
Ok, calmed down... I have one issue, one of many, with regards to the excessive smoke and it's color. The ammount is getting there, but the color, is supposed to be black. Since it's common that evil, twisted and chaosbringing Overlords wear black, well, his vaporized body should be black. I'm currently using the .tga off of the CD and every time I change the color to black, the smoke disappears.
Anyways, here's a small pic. Now I'm not sure if I'll have to make the bottom half of the Overlord's armour, but time will tell.
Gotta run! Got splines to create, eyes to lit, patches to fill and smoke to inhale... I mean puff... um, you get the idea.
Cheers,
J
