Here are links to the v14.0 Beta 9 Installer. --
(If you are running Beta 7 or 8. Please upgrade to Beta 9 as soon as possible)Windows: OSX (Universal Binary): Fixes since the last release:
- 0004698: [Installation (Intel)] Multiple entries of "Animation Master" are listed in the "Add/Remove" program area. (one for each rev even if installed to the same folder.) (Paul Forwood)
- 0004703: [Materials] TWO: Group priority seems to have been changed (KenH)
- 0004697: [Modeling] "Not set" surface properties on groups are saved with default values (Mac only) (Julian)
Make sure when you report bugs to
A:M Reports, that you pick the v14 project in the upper right.

I run into that problem... maybe you could give me an advice what was changed by this bug?
I used for example a material on a model. I made the groups of the model new and reassigned the material. Now the whole model is white. When I use beta 9 and make a new model and a new material, everything seems to be fine but I cant find the property which makes the problem.
Thanks in advance

Ah, found the problem:
Materials had bump-percentage/displacement = 0%... when I changed that to "Not Set" it worked again.

This part really scares me
Why? Why 'as soon as possible' ? And why is it in red? What would happen if we don't upgrade? Is something gonna implode?

The world will end exactly 172 hours after upgrading to v14 Beta 8.
The world will end exactly 524 hours after upgrading to v14 Beta 7.
Installing v14 Beta 9 will avert this tragedy and save the world from a fate worse than... um... fate.
Hash Inc must hack the systems of everyone that doesn't update to Beta 9 individually so please update quickly as this leaves less time for us to use and enjoy A:M if you don't. Tick... Tick... Tick... time is a wastin'.
You didn't hear this from me.

I think it is because of the default-bug.
It hit me... everything you didnt manipulate was set to default-value. That means that for example your Materials will get a value of 0% for displacement, etc.
That will cause the model to look white.
And it happens with quite everything. Groups, Materials and everything that will change the appearance. Maybe even more, but that doesnt affect you.
So it is really really wise to update to beta 9 if you used beta 7 or 8!
Hash reacted fast and the bug seems to be gone for me. If you saved and run into that bug, you will have to go through your models parameter and reset the once you didnt change to "Not Set".

I keep running into the problem with the dictionary. I load in a sound clip and open a new dope sheet and then it says it cant find the dictionary file.

I have lost all color that was set in the model after upgrading. Any thoughts? I have set all the values back but nothing. Well almost nothing some of the color is now striped.
Steve
Something weird. If I group the splines and color, the color will hold. If, however, I place the grouped color into a folder all the color is lost.

Okay. This is starting to get exciting and scary at the same time. Hey Will! Stop talking on your cell phone and get to work (or at least change your avatar to show you working).
I have not switched yet but I'm on the very edge and teetering.

Because of the size of the dictionary, only the cd install includes that file. You can either copy the file from a previous v13 or v12 install to your Beta folder. Or when it says it is missing you can just browse for the copy from your older install and it will use the the file from there.

This has been happening lately, but before I report it I wanted to know if others get this. After rendering for 5 - 6 hrs, in Final mode, with Hair/Particles ON, Motion Blur ON, Multipass ON... the final QT movie is fine but after I close the render wndows to go to the default chor window, this is what I get:
Any ideas?

That looks like video refresh to me (though I don't get it - I've seen things like that). Does it go away if you close and reopen the window?

Yes it actually does go away. That's why I didn't report it.

Videocard drivers. If you've got drivers that otherwise work well, don't worry about it.

Ooops Dhar. This might be because of the old video driver we (ok, me) installed on your PC - perhaps the newer nvidia beta ones (that people have been reporting work better, and don't have the dreaded blackies) might not have this?
But I'm waiting until they're not beta anymore.
