I am running version 13 yeti on P4 3.00 Ghz 3gig ram nvidea geforce 7800 gt.
I never had issues before when creating five point patches but since I updated my hardware and AM version I have been unable to create a five point patch.
Strangely enough the 5pp tool comes up but it just wont close and fill the thing.
I have sent my models to other users who have no trouble with it,I am tempted either to buy the latest version but seeing as I have been unable to use the program proffessionally for the last year I am equally inclined to move on to another platform.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I am going a little mental over it and keep installing / uninstalling , trying again and again using every trick and standard proceedure I have ever seen or heard of.
The extent of this problem even extends to models imported with working 5 point patches if I interfere with the patch in any way the patch will open and not close again even by using the undo command.
Please , please please help me.

After you create the 5pp and you still don't see it - flip the normals and see if that does it. Choose your 5pp -> R-Click -> Flip Normals.

I hope that helps smile.gif

I am not sure this will help but, a couple of tricks/tips (that have helped me out a lot) taken from Barry Zundel's training DVD in regards to 5 point patches.

(of course, make sure the patch isn't flipped and that the points are indeed connected...)

1. If the 5pp tool doesn't activate when you have the 5 points of a patch selected, hide everything but the points, reselect the points, and the 5pp tool will activate.

2. If the patch doesn't show up, hit "f" to flip the patch.

3. If it still does not show up, look for a hook near the 5pp. Unhook, make the 5pp, and then rehook.

Also try Steffen Gross's plugin "select" to select all 5 point patches.

Good luck

Sometimes it depends on what order you select the cps in.....

You mention that you are using new hardware so I am wondering if you are using Vista. If that is the case then I would suggest doing a forum search for "Vista". There are a couple of threads about using A:M with Vista and how to get around some display issues. (Just incase) wink.gif

This is one that I had in mind: Vista woes.

Another thing to check is to see if you have any cp's on top of each other. I have caught myself accidentally copying a cp on top of another and selecting the wrong one when trying to create a five pointer (in other words, actually having 6 cp's instead of five). Just grab each one one at a time and move them around to see if anything is hiding beneath.
