Any idea why I get a white blank work space everytime I hit Start Projection? Can't see the model and can't even paint anything?

v14Beta5 Latest 3dPainter.

Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Dhar,

When you press the 'Start Projection' button, 3DPainter has to make a few pixel buffers (one to store painting, one to store lighting, etc...) These are provided to 3DPainter by the graphics card. It seems like something went wrong in creating those things, probably by some bug or some restriction in the graphics card or its driver.

Could you send me the information that appears in the 'About...' window (the info under 'Graphics board'). That might shed a light on the problem. What operating system do you use? Do you have the latest graphics driver? Did you recently update drivers? Did it work before on the same PC?

I hope we can find out what's happening.

Best regards,
Filip

Will, the "Get Surface Color" option is grayed out.

Filip, the first version of 3DP worked like a charm on this same computer. The operating system is Win XP Media. I know I got the NVIDIA GeForce 6200SE TurboCache. I don't know if this is an updated drive or not (I don't even know how to update this stuff - I assume it is not the automatic updates that my computer performs automatically). This is what came with this computer and I did not add or remove any hardware.

I will see if I can reproduce this behaviour on some computer. I've already tried it on a number of PC's, but without any 'luck' so far. Otherwise, I will send you a special version of 3DPainter that logs some things.

Thanks Filip. I also changed between Open GL and 3D thing since I noticed that my decals no longer show up in shaded mode.

Would you recommend upgrading the video card?

Hi Dhar,
I've also had this issue on my tablet, which has a very poor graphics card... It usually occurs when I haven't saved the am project, and if I apply projection paint, go back to AM and save the project, then reopen 3dpainter...on the second and any subsequent painting it works perfectly...hope this helps.

Thanks John. I tried your method, no go. However, thanks to Nancy, she updated my driver to a version that fixed both 3DPainter and the dreaded black CPs and bones.

Thank you Nancy; you can come and fix my computer any time biggrin.gif
