Here's my latest update for the "We're off song"

I added the changes Robert suggested

file removed
Jeetman
I added facial expression and refined the foot tap for Tin Servant and I imported the final model for Tin and Scarecrow.

I still need to do a small amount of refining to Tin Servant such as adding anticipation to the hand movements on the concertina and a slight rhythmic motion in the hands.

That's looking great, George. You've come a long way.

Suggestion for Tinservant's head shake; have him look up instead of down. The way you have him now looks more like "tsk, tsk, shame, shame" instead of "oh brother! what a clutz". That is of course unless it was meant to be that way. smile.gif

You're almost there.
elliotclem1
Absolutly fantastic!!!!!

I wouldn't know what elsa there is the improve.

The lip sync is perfect.
The Knock on the door is exactly right with the sound track.

Im not sure about this but are you supposed to animate the Tinservant's insturment?
If so I would just put a bit more UMPH and energy when he plays the notes.

Thats all from me keep up the fantastic work.

The level of quality on this project is supurb.
John Bigboote
FUNNEEE!

That's some great animation!
Jeetman
Thank you Dhar, Elliot and John. I really appreciate the complements.

Dhar, I implemented a "head up" version as you suggested. I'm not sure which one I like better so I'm going to post both here for feedback. which ever one people like the most I'll go with.

I took Tin out to reduce the file size.

Here's the original with the anticipation added

Original version (10mg)

Here's the one with the changes Dhar had suggested.

Tin Servant with head shake aiming up (10mg)

I like both of them so I'm hoping you guys can help me decide.

Thanks,
George
Dhar
Hmmmm......how about have him roll his eyes or simply look up, I think that will emphasize the "oh brother" and make it clearer?
NancyGormezano
It is hard to choose but I like the second better - communicates more of a superior attitude from the servant (as opposed to a sad, disappointed attitude) - as for the eyes rolling or looking up stage right when he's shaking his head - that would work as well - but what you've got here also works.

Love the tinman antics too - very, very good
Jeetman
Thank you Nancy and Dhar. Here's the finished version with Tin man.

I added the eye roll but I kept the head nod. Having Tin Servant Just looking up didn't look as flamboyant. I also added some poses for Scarecrow. He seemed too plain.

If Robert gives the OK I'll finally be done. If not, then I'll make the corrections.

LOL This is one of those posts where you can't tell if a person is truly asking a question or making a joke. However, the wink makes me believe it's a joke. But in case you are really asking, I linked from the svn.

The only reason I question if you are serious or not Mark is because I too didn't know about this. I actually found out after checking out one of Dhar's WIP's. Then the light bulb went off. It's great because you show exactly what you've committed and don't have the 2meg limit.

Also, imagine the poor guy who has the shot before or after yours. Sorry about that Holmes. I guess I forget that not everyone has high speed cable connections. I use the quicktime codec that Ken H recommended when I first start posting WIPs (Sorenson Video 3). If you know a better one I'm all for it.

Actaully it was a serious question and I did not think of it either so you are linking the SVN Location on your own C drive? so if my SVN is up to date I get a link to the file on my own hard drive or the http address of hashes SVN server? I am serous I really don't know unsure.gif rolleyes.gif If you are committing 18 megs WIP to SVN then just wait tell KenH hears about this I think he is on dial up and has mentioned about this in other threads. I feel cable fiber optic high speed internet should be a basic human right! Man I am looking into Radio Internet for cottage now kids and wife have been internet free for about a year now. I am surprised they have lasted this long blink.gif
Dhar
To link the movie in SVN to your post:

Rightclick on your .mov file > Properties > Subversion tab > copy the URL.

In you Post Reply > click on Insert Link > Temporarily Allow Scripted Windows (that depends on your security settings) > Paste the URL > OK > Enter name of your movie > OK.

That's it. smile.gif

I switched from dial up to cable as soon as it was available. Yeah it was more money but being a serious online gamer at the time, it was a must have. That was about 5-8 years ago.

My brother has to use DSL because that's all they offer where he lives. I'll say this, if you use the Internet a lot and high speed cable is available, it's a must have. I couldn't even imagine using dial up anymore.

The 18meg file downloads from my COX cable provider in about 45 secs. to 1 minute. I shudder to think of how long dial up would take hehe.

Thanks Robert. I'll try this with my next post.

Just a quick note here, I'm not sure if I'll be committing anything for this week due to my mother having to be hospitalized for a few days (she's hopefully coming home today). It's nothing seriously life threatening but serious enough to require hospital treatment. It's her birthday this Sunday also (She'll be 73). I know you're not suppose to divulge a woman's age but I know she wouldn't mind hehe. My mother lives with my wife and I.

All this going on and I have a wedding cake to make for Sunday so I'll try to do some animating but man it's going to be tough.

OK sorry I haven't been posting in a while. I've had some pretty major things happen that is going to completely change my lifestyle.

First,

My mom is fine. She had a complication due to a medical condition she has. Long story short, she wasn't doing what she was suppose to and she had a negative reaction. Fortunately her condition she has isn't life threatening and she's following her doctor's instructions.

The change I'm going through is a major move. I'm moving from Rhode Island to Alabama in the next 2 weeks. I'm still going to try to post WIP's weekly.

For example:

Here's an update of the 2_01_57 with blocked poses for Scarecrow based on Robert's latest instructions. All feedback welcome. Bear in mind the poses and timing are not perfected and there are no inbetweens. I did put holds but that's about it. I think the timing is close though.

All feedback welome.

I polished Scarecrow and updated Tin Servant so he acknowledges Scarecrow. Also, because Holmes's sequence starts with Scarecrow's hat off, I had Scarecrow remove his hat as he does the broad jump. It looks pretty cool I think.

This should be done with the only exception (barring any additional changes from Robert of course) being that the camera may need to be animated to get all of Scarecrow to show during the jump as you'll see.

Let me know what you think,
George

Scarecrows jump needs some more work.

Hi George, Please don't upload 22MB video files to SVN. You will have many people wanting to kill you if you do, especially the people who have to download the project folder next for clean-up, editing, effects, etc. A "low bandwidth" movie file is more than adequate for a "take" shaded render.

I think any future SVN projects should have the movies in a completely different folder than the assets that make the movies. That way people could easily avoid movie downloads

Global ignore pattern
Global ignore patterns are used to prevent unversioned files from showing up e.g. in the commit dialog. Files matching the patterns are also ignored by an import. Ignore files or directories by typing in the names or extensions. Patterns are separated by spaces e.g. */bin */obj *.bak *.~?? *.jar *.[Tt]mp. The first two entries refer to directories, the other four to files. These patterns use filename globbing. Read Section 5.11.1, “Filename Globbing in Ignore Lists” for more information.

Holmes,

Sorry about the file size. I forget that not every one has a 300 gig hard drive. I WILL correct this tonight. It slipped my mind that when other people update it puts the file in their folder on their home computer and they may have limited space on their hard drive. The only reason I committed it at that size was for clarity. I will correct this tonight when I get home. I sure don't want any one wanting to kill me hehe.

The "take" movies are useful for getting a quick look at what has been done on a shot without having to load the whole project file into A:M, so I like to download them, but they only need to be rough semi-low quality (ie. small file size). It's the download times I, and others I observed at the hash bash, are mainly concerned with. When you have to download a batch of projects from svn for various reasons, large movie files can really add to download times.

Holmes,

I saved the low res version to the SVN. The file is 2.67mb. This was the lowest I could get. It's still WAY better than 22mb. I'm sorry if I've caused anyone any grief over the file size. I'll only post low res mov's to the SVN from now on.

robcat2075
Hey George, here's something important that needs to be done. We need to link your shot here with Holmes' 2_01_58 shot. THey are really one long shot.

I think the easiest way to combine them is to drag the Scarecrow, Tinservant, Concertina and audio from Holmes' chor into yours. They will bring all their keyframes with them automatically. That means there will be two Scarecrows, two Tinservant, etc.

You may need to copy keyframes from the camera in Holmes' shot to preserve its camera move.

Use the ACTIVE property of the characters to make the first one disappear and the second one appear at the right time.

You WILL need to slide the elements from Holmes' chor way down inthe timeline so they come after yours. How much farther? That depends on how much time it takes for the linking animation...

2_01_57_linkingPitchIMAG0005.mov

to avoid confusion, save the new combined chor as 2_01_57b in the SC57b folder

In the video I talk about having the Scarecrow watch the crown roll by. I changed my mind on that. Have him ignore it, but the Tinservant CAN be watching it.

The tinman crashing soundeffect isn't there yet. Guessitmate it and we'll slide the pauses to fit it later.

I'm sure I've forgotten something, but you'll let me know when you find it. wink.gif

thanks, George!

Jeetman
Man what a job that was. I added Holmes's shot to the end of my shot so now it plays as one long sequence. I added Tin Servant jumping back and the crown rolling out from the room where Tin Woodman falls. I added Tin Servant following the crown as Scarecrow smugly waits. I added Tin Servant pushing the door open with his foot to allow the crown to continue it's path into the adjacent room.

The proxy hallway door that the crown rolls into didn't have a bone hinge for the door so I modified the model and saved it as Proxy_hallway2.

It's all committed. I had a hard time getting the svn to accept the files.

Here's the final shot. Because it's both my and Holmes's shot together, the file is a little big.

Now I get 4 hours sleep just in time to go to work. laugh.gif

Hey that turned out great, George!

-How hard would it be to flip the crown so the pointy parts were facing the camera. I'm thinking that might make it more immediately recogniseable.

-Can you slow the initial roll-on of the crown so it is only a little faster than the roll-off?

-here are some notes on the door kick...

The crown rolling is nice - but might be better if Scarecrow follows the crown rolling around him and out the door with his eyes ? The rest of him can stay still as he does now.
robcat2075
That door tap looks great! It really does. He has just the right amount of disinterest.

I think I overdid it when when I had you slow the crown down so much. I looked at the chor and it looks like you could grab the set of keyframes on the crown and scrunch it so the crown exits about two seconds earlier. Would that work?

Here's the next step in finishing this off...

Well, it's been a while but I'm back.

Here's the latest version with your changes. I'm not happy with Tin Servant's movement and I still need to do the final Tin Servant playing animation. I unfortunately had to help my nephew over the weekend with a project so I didn't get to finish this up. I'll do my best to wrap this up by Wednesday.

This is not the final so Robert don't critque this. I didn't commit this to the svn yet either.

Here's what I've got so far. Still want to clean up Tin Servants reaction to the crown and finish the concertina playing.
