Hi DHar, is your Chor committed? I'm still getting the empty one I put up. I think i need to tinker with the camera a bit.
I look at this shot and I'm thinking... Winkies with golf clubs on the hillsides.

It's committed now Robert.
Winkies with golf clubs, huh? And lady Winkies with umbrellas and binoculars?

Ok, I updated it to reverse the camera move. What do you think... is pulling out better than moving in, or would a stationary shot be better?
On the walk, I think you could do the arm swinging even bigger, but I'd have to see it in time to the music. Right now the keyframes are every 10 frames but the music beats are every 12.
Go ahead and add the passing positions, the poses where the lifted foot is passing by the foot that is on the ground. Like Richard Williams talks about on pg 111 and 112 in Survival Kit which i think you have mentioned having already. If not , let me know.

OK Robert, I changed the keyframes to 12, adjusted the arms and implemented the middle pose. I think the wave timing may have to be tweaked, but let's see if this is what you want first

Hi Dhar,
sorry for that direct criticism, but that walk looks a bit as if Woot was wearing heavy ski boots. And it is so hard to find out the reason for that! I watched the walk and it technically looks okay, but still that ski boot impression stays. Maybe missing fluidness? Too hard stamping on the ground? Too little movement in the chest? I think it partially is because one can't see that the foot is rolling over the ground; it looks like a flat putting down.

Hi Dhar ... nice walking but I agree with Ralf, I believe that you should add some movement in the chest accompanying the swinging of the arms ...

Nice. To me it seems like he knows (even though he's not looking back) that he's just about to pass behind the hill and waves on cue. It seems abit contrived.

Hey, that got much better now that it's in synch! Before I jump in, the wave needs to come sooner... on "jour-neee" rather than I'm off! Like I did in the pitch video.

You'll want to avert your eyes when we get to the part where a marching band appears out of thin air.

It occurs to me that maybe the quickest fix is to slide the sound track.

I didn't want to mess with the sound file, Robert. I didn't want to mess up the beat.

Thanks Robert. I moved the root bone so that Woot is half covered by the hill at the point you mentioned. Tweaked the walk and slowed down the head turn. I hope this is more of what you're looking for.

Hey Dhar,
The animation that seems to be in the current
2_01_69.cho doesn't look to be the last animation you did. The animation in the movie
2_01_69-take.mov looks much better and that's what I recall you ending up with. I did update those files; what I have seems to be what's on the SVN now.
Could you investigate that and restore your good stuff?
George has volunteered to add the background Winkies to this shot but I don't want to start him on that until tis' the right file.
thanks

I added 2 quick background animations. I was going to add 4 but, I think that may draw too much attention away from Woot. Robert, if you do decide you want 4 just let me know.
Because these guys are basically doing gounds keeping, I figured they should have a uniform so I created a version of the winkie called "winkie_groundkeeper". I created a "raking to looking up action" and a "stationary (a guy holding a rake as he leans on the handle) to turn to look action".
I didn't go crazy with the details because it's only background filler. I scaled the size of them down to give the illusion of the being farther away.
I went to commit what I have done but I've either been removed from the access to the svn or forgot my password. I either need my password or need to have my access restored. As soon as I can access the svn, I'll commit what I have. I saved it as "2_01_69_1.
Here's the mov for it.

Those look good. Could you sprinkle about 3 more on the far hill? the idea is that Woot is headed to a not unpopulated area.
You could probably reuse the same raking action.
That animation of Woot looks like what I thought was lost. When I updated my SVN of that folder to check it out I just got a blocking version that Dhar had done at the start. And Dhar doesn't have his TWO files anymoe so I thought this final animation was gone.
Don't lose that file!
thanks, George!

Hi Robert,
I finally got a chance to add the extra ground keeping Winkies. I also created a constant raking action for the extras. The original one has the guy looking up to watch Woot. It's all committed to the svn.
Here's a mov.
