Come on - it shouldn't take more than an evening?
mtpeak2
That sounds like a job for Stian, if he wants a break from lighting. smile.gif
Rodney
I think I'd like to take this on.
Ummm... Can I?

Well, get going.

Rodney? Cool, I'd like to see what you do with it.
Rodney
Outstanding. Looking forward to it.

I'm off to get a large supply of Whataburgers to keep the energy level up.
No work tomorrow (except texturing and animating). smile.gif
Rodney
Okay... the basic Loon Pump.

Not sure if I'm heading in the right direction.
Open to suggestions!

I think you're going in the right direction. It looks rusty, but why do I see a reflection on it?

That's a good start Rodney! I'm excited that I finally get a chance to see some of your work!

Personally, I would take this as an oppurtunity to make this thing look as nasty as possible. I'd make it more rusty and add a bump map to it as well.

This looks really good though, definately going in the right direction!

This is an initial test working with a personal method of texturing I'm developing.
As of right now there are no decal or materials on the model.
I'm also doing this thus far entirely in A:M as I don't have access to my personal favorite paint program Corel Photopaint.
Not particularly interested in using another application right now so focusing on what I can do with A:M alone.

I've toyed with the idea of using several metals.
It seems to me that any metal would be quite rusty after being in Loonville for long.
Borrowing some tin from Tin Castle would echo in a nice effect.
It'd need to be mostly rusted out with little tin left... a very subtle effect as the original unrusted metal should hardly be seen at all?

As far as the reflection... right before rendering I turned up the specular to see how that worked.
Forgot to turn it back down. Ooops.
Rodney
I've discovered I don't know much about Ambience.
So... won't be using much more of that for now. wink.gif

Edit: This render with Ambience settings on looks a lot better on an uncalibrated LED monitor.

Do you need it texturing still?

If you send me the .mdl i would like to have a go using my A:M paint if that is ok with you.

I would just like to see what i comes out like.

You don't need to accept if it isn't very good. I would just like a go

Rodney,

Originally when I modeled the pump, I figured it would be soft metals like brass, copper and maybe some tin, so you're going in the right direction. Great start!

Cheers! biggrin.gif

Hey... get your own model to texture! wink.gif

Thanks Jody! I'm planning on adding tin and some refinements to include weathering.
I forgot to submit my basic texturing before leaving for a few days to thats up first.
I understand the pump may needs some rigging changes.
As there aren't any decals or materials applied yet (just patch images) I think its safe to adjust.
