3DPainter
Hi All,

There's a new update available for 3DPainter/A:M Paint.

Changes:
  • Windows Vista ready
  • Updated user interface
  • Bitmap tool improvements:
    • New 'Immediate' mode for bitmap tool
    • Right-click to cache/recall bitmap position and transformation
  • Option to limit displayed texture size
  • Right-click on model in Project Workspace to create temporary groups based on size (so autodecalling can be applied per size group).
  • New brushes (by Luis Enrique Braga Ramirez)
  • Bugfixes and performance improvements
For download, go to http://www.3dpainter.com/downloads.php
(the password for the download section can be found in your order confirmation mail or, if you already have a previous version of 3DPainter, in the user manual.)

Make sure you also copy the plugin to the 'hxt' folder!

Filip

Nice!

Now that I've got v14 and Windows Vista both running your announcement proves to be perfect timing.

Thanks Filip!

Very cool! Very professional!

I didn't see the plugin for V14... the manual said to look for one... only saw 12 and 13?

It's under the directory C:\Program Files\Pixosaur\3DPainter\Plugin. You should copy it to the directory C:\Program Files\Hash Inc\V14.0\hxt.

Hi Filip,

Thanks for your great product. I just got a new laptop that has Vista on it and I was excited to see that you had just posted a Vista ready version, however I still can't get it to work. It loads up the splash screen and just sits there. I am using Vista home addition with an Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 with 256 MB ram and 2 gig system memory...Toshiba Satellite. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Paula

Paula,
I'm having a similar issue here on my Vista laptop.
I haven't had time to troubleshoot and get any info sent to Filip.
I'm thinking its a matter of switching from OpenGL to Direct3D or vice versa but I see no place to change settings.

Hi Paula,

It's probably related to the graphics drivers and their OpenGL support. ATI and Nvida had to rework their drivers completely for Vista and the drivers delivered with Vista were still very preliminary. I have an ATI card and only since february their drivers have good OpenGL support. I've looked on the NVidia site and it appears that they don't have real Vista drivers yet for their Go 7 series (the drivers you have are probably generic drivers with restricted functionality). As other Nvidia cards seem to work well on Vista, I suppose they're currently giving the desktop drivers priority to the laptop drivers.

Maybe you can find Vista drivers on the Toshiba site if you enter the model of your laptop in their search system. I've read about similar problems with Go7 cards and other laptop brands (Dell, HP) and their problems were solved by a driver provided by the laptop manufacturer.

Best regards,
Filip

Thanks for looking into it Filip. I checked both Nvidia and Toshiba site and there are no new drivers yet. I think I have resorted to the fact that I will have to install XP instead as so many things doen't seem to work.

It looks great. But i am having trouble downloading it.

What is the password?

elliotclem1
Do i have to buy it our do i get it free with A:M?
KenH
It's a separate program not made by Hash. It's reasonably priced and you get the password when you pay it.

$99 and you can order it through Hash Inc's store.

You can even get it bundled with an A:M upgrade for $189 plus shipping! biggrin.gif

P.S. The password will only get you onto the site where you'll be able to download the program.
But... you won't be able to run the program without a registration key. So not much point downloading until you purchase.
You get that key from Filip/Pixosaur 3D Paint.

Wow. I just did a quick run thru of this app...my first impression is that I am quite impressed! The documentation (44 pages) looks quite comprehensive and full, and the first model I opened and started scribing on was BIG FUN! Quite professional all the way around, I am looking forward to using it! I'm glad that it works right within A:M, that adds credibility and comfort for me...like using TSM2, you just reach for it and it's there.

TOP DRAWER!!!

Is there a way to have painter to present the model as it appears in AM? ie with a mouth open so I can paint into the corners or inside the lip etc.

Cheers
KenH
I don't think so. But you could make a group of the upper head and hide it to give you access to inside the mouth.

Hi David,
You could export a copy of the model file and load that one into 3DPainter. As the copy references the same decal file, this would do exactly what you want.

I have a question... In UV mode, can you import and stamp a photo for example, onto your uv's? If so, can you move around cp's to tweak the image on the model? Thanks

the answer is yes. And in fact you can do it with regular photos that are not already unwrapped. Take a look at the self portrait I've done here:
http://migrate.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28224

It is mapped with photos of my face. I projected them onto existing UVs in 3DPainter.

Thanks Bendytoons! so there's more than a few ways to get the look you want with this program... btw, your character looks really good! watched it a couple times smile.gif

Really? And the offer is announced in the A:M Store? Or it's simply applied when you buy it at the same time? It's only I haven't been able to find it in the page... Ohhh, in that case I really think I'll get it with my v15.0 upgrade! smile.gif Although it seems to me like too much wait, come to think of it...
