Thanks Will! smile.gif
noober
Keep up the hard work... Ill be upgrading soon.
goodguy20k
Thank you! Now I don't have to keep reprogramming my firelight! biggrin.gif
KenH
No sign of those hair optimizations Martin did? Or were they just for rendering. Klips real time beard is whipping my machine.
ssappington
Martin isn't working on real-time display or shaded render optimizations- he's working on final quality render-to-file optimizations.
Ramón López
...yOo-HoOo! My first new Alpha since I have my own A:M smile.gif, I'm not very advanced (yet...) but I think I'll make my experiments on it to see exactly what is cooking... THANK YOU!!!

PS: Oooh... I just can't wait to still have too my own Double Processor PC! I hope soon...

These definitely caught my attention.
Thanks!

The attached example (a quick flash screenshot animation) doesn't really do much to explain anything (I'm not that smart!) but I think its cool.
Noel, as always you Rock!
KenH
I'd be interested to know what they mean (I can't make it out from your example Rodney).

They've added Range and Frame capabilities to Rotoscope for keyframing in the Timeline.
Those options (and the ability to set and change rotokeyframes via the Timeline) weren't there before.

New view of dropdown on the left. Old on the right.

In my example above I also used the Transparency, Translate and Scale options. They are still there.
Both sets of sequential images (i.e the transforming lady) are exactly the same as applied to two different Rotoscopes.
Everything animated via Rotoscope menu properties and via tweaking of the timeline once it got set.
No old ladies were harmed in this test.
KenH
Cool. I'll have to experiment to find out exactly what they do.

BTW I have to say I love the way the bones turn blue on keyframes. It's very helpful with animating....though a little distracting when viewing the animation in sequence as has been said. I know we can "turn it off" in options.....maybe this could be made into a toggle icon for quickly viewing animations without it.

One tweak at a time Ken... one tweak at a time. wink.gif

Hmm... Anyone else having render trouble with hair? This is what I'm getting:

I'll write up a report, but I just thought I'd see if I'm the only one. smile.gif

What do you imagine is the diff detween 'crop' and 'range'...both are time settings. Hmmm
johnl3d
I notied some strange coloring on hair with the quick e coli model i posted

Can't check right now but I'd say since neither is animatable (at least right now) crop is that subset of the range that will play in that particular rotoscope. You could then have multiple rotoscopes and perhaps eventually the same one defining different parts of the same range.

(Yes, I just guessed all that stuff up and probably got it wrong.)

...HI! I've been experimenting with springs and I've noticed some extrange behaviour in objects with Dynamic Constraints applied on it, it seems that the object go away in the Action to infinity and beyond in other frame than zero, yeah, it simply disappears when you "exit" of zero frame; the file is really simple, a chain of three bones with a Dynamic Constrain applied to the third/last one... It seems very weird and if necessary I'll send the report as soon as possible, hmmm... maybe my first A:M bug! biggrin.gif

Hmm, so long as we're guessin'.. wink.gif

When I read that, I assumed it worked like actions in the choreography. If you have an animated roto, you can set the crop range. The range, I figured, is where in the camera timeline it goes.

There, now you have my guess too! Wonder who's right! wink.gif

Weird... Looks like the hair material is loading wrong. I thought I'd start off a brand new material and recreate the hair off the original settings... Except, the old material is missing several options! blink.gif

I'm gonna keep playing with this. Can someone test an old hair material for me so I have somethin' to go off of with a report?

Hopefully for the next v14 release I'll have a mini tutorial to document these features.

Say you have an image sequence on disk of 100 frames
The Animation has start and end frames which crop this sequence
The image property.timing.crop can further crop this, and defaults to the animation crop, so that if the crop of the animation changes your rotoscope speed will be the same.
Range controls when and how long.

The annual release is usually on or about SIGGRAPH each year.
Is that July or August this year? Somewhere in there.

As far as when it'll be released without bugs... never.
Hopefully you just won't run into the ones that still exist as they'll be in nooks and crannies not often looked into.
Pesky critters.

Noel,
I just wanted to say that I'm looking forward to more information on your intended usage of this feature enhancement.
As it is already I've spent a whole lot of time creating some features of my own thanks to these additions.
This is really great stuff.

I think you are responsible for the majority of my favorite features.
No slight on the other Hash Inc programmers but if you ever need a stalker... wink.gif
In other words... Thank you!

Your seeing the new release in a 'glass half empty' light. You need keep in mind that the new release reflects THOUSANDS of bug fixes over the years, and all the features introduced in all earlier versions are in full working order. New features, and there's a lot of them...are unfolding before our eyes and being refined in the list you see. It's good to get your hands on the newer version as soon as you can to get working with the new features as they happen, rather than to wait and be overwhelmed by a 'lot to learn'...
