I decided to Start a new Topic, the other one was getting a little too...3 paged

Speaking of pages, I'm going to steal one out of Nancy's Book and give you happy Hasher's a choice! These aren't final versions, just ideas and color schemes. These results will help me decide which way to go and start detailing. Please vote, what you do here could make a difference in a real animated movie!!!

First, I would like to propose (to a girl someday) that I be allowed to modify the model so that Chopfyt can have engineer boots (see all pictures) I think it fits his personality better.

Bring on the options!

The Classic: Blue jeans, Black vest

The Elvis: Shiny pants, Bronze vest

The Outdoorsman: Faded Tan jeans, Pale Green vest--a Seasonal Favorite!

The Tinman: Camo Pants, Gold vest--Matches his "Nemesis"!

The Backwoods Man: Camo pants, Dark vest

Well Folks there you go! Now do your civic duty and vote for the best! Be informed!

I'm having a hard time deciding - they would all work - 1, 3, 5

But but but.... No jammies option? you know - little duckies & rabbits on his pants ? - with furry bunny slippers ?- this guy just lays about all day - watching the telly... making calls to his bookie...he doesn't get dressed until 3 in the afternoon probably.

Nice start

Option #6

Ducky Jammies

hee heee

I actually think a toned down (did I say that?) jammie version could work - maybe not those colors...like maybe a white/cream background with a more subtle yellow duckie motif, or a pale blue pillow ticking type stripe number

maybe ditch the irridescent dayglo hot pink bunny boots and give him back his engineer brown manly boots - unless you want to go baby pink for the bunny boots, definitely more tasteful (needs ears sticking up, with nose & whiskers on the toes)

But perhaps - your original ideas are more what others would have in mind - you must KNOW I will just lead you astray, mon petit cher innocence ...

However if no one's watching the store...

LeeAnderson
Thanks Nancy...I'm afraid I just don't have that certain something necessary to make a grown man like Chopfyt wear ducky jammies. He'd hate me forever. It's already hard enough to work with that guy, with all the cigar stubs around the set.

I'm going to say voting is closed with "The Outdoorsman" as the victor! You can still vote, it'll just be for fun now. Yipee!

I'll get started on this soon

Oops...double post

Okay folks, here's some new Chopfyt stuff. My "swinging" social life fell through tonight (how could a guy as attractive as me stay at home on a Saturday? blink.gif ) so I had some time for Mr. Foot

Here's the vest, I've added a bump map and some extra details that turned out pretty nicely:

Also, I finished off the engineer boots. (Actually, I just copied more straps from the model). (Mark, if you're reading this, what bones should I assign these straps to?)

Anyway, just an update, but I'd still love to hear what you think!

Don't worry about assigning cps, David or I will take care of it, though the lower strap is in a tough spot to deal with. He's looking pretty good, keep at it.
LeeAnderson
Thanks Mark, I'm glad because I just about soiled myself when I opened up the rig to see if I could do it on my own!

Anyway, new update:

I was trying to figure out ways to make his face more interesting, and that's when it hit me! These are Nick Chopper's old body parts, right? Well, how about a couple of scars where surgery didn't go so great?

Any comments anyone? Any way I could make this more interesting looking?

Thanks

hee hee

ear, nose or eyebrow ring?

More stitches around neck like Frankenstein, with some bolts ?

tattoo on arm with heart encircling "Mother" or "Nimmie" or "Hi, My name is Chopfyt"

Chest, armpit hair?

Duckies on vest.

You asked.

I do like the stitches on his face. Vest looks very nice (no duckies needed).

Maybe add some fleece around the neck, arm hole, outer edges (like the sheepskin on Nick's jacket) to give the illusion that the vest is lined with sheepskin (sorta connects them a bit more)
KenH
Nice face work. I'd go for a paler complexion than Nick Chopper. He was "dead" for a time after all.

I'm not even going to tough those first few but THIS one is really good. I'll give it a try.

I'm not sure how much more pale to make it. Here is a comparison:

Thanks for the feedback Ken and Nancy!

Ah yes! Perfect. What about brows for Nick?

This was a WIP picture of Nick. He has eyebrows smile.gif

Nice work. I think you might want to try a slight beard shadow though.
LeeAnderson
I added a little beard shadow and I agree, it does look better. Thanks Jeff!

Also, I made the stitches a little more realistic

New update: Pants. I also added the lining that Nancy suggested and I think it looks great. I'm going to darken it up a little, but it's a nice touch.

I thought about a really hairy chest. But I think I just like the stitches. I think it makes him seem...deader

Here's his right arm, it's a rusty echo of the colors of the Tin Man

Lee

Looks very good - scars look great , jacket fleece looks great, rusted, weathered arm is TERRIFIC.

No particle hair?

Only things that I might suggest just to finish him up a tad more (which just ocurred to me):

How about a reddish nose? just a bit more color ? would give him a rougher, more hard drinking manly look.

And maybe some stitching that says "Choppy" on his vest - like NC's stitching? Could be across the back Large - like a Hell's angel type thing? Or just a small thing on the front?
Zaryin
You definatley have to explain how you do leather. I love that leather.

Mark helped me steal Nick's hair and I think it looks great! There's also a little bit more red to the nose. As far as the stitching goes...well.... I'm not sure...it would be so easy just to leave it now. Dang Nancy, why am I getting less brave with these textures? I thought you were suppose to be leading me astray smile.gif

It's nothing too amazing actually. The vest had a cool darksim leather material on it already. I flatttened that, played around with brightness/contrast for a bump map, and then dirtied up the color map. One thing that I like to do though, is turn the intensity down on my color maps and let the group color do its thing. This works good for the TWO style, kind of a detailed cartoon look.
