The Nimmee model has a bone assigned to the thumb geometry but it's hidden, and I can't find any kind of controller bone for the thumbs. Does Nimme have bones to control her thumbs?

Yes, look in the animation controls>hand controls and turn on show finger controls. For some reason she doesn't have the show thumb controls pose.
