(These are storyboard drawings to show situations... not carefully composed camera shots yet.)

We start in the TinWoodsman's room where the Tin Servant is helping him prepare for his journey.

Tin Servant, presenting an axe as if it were a fancy bottle of wine: "Here's your axe, sire. Will there be anything else?"

Tin Woodsman: "Well now that you mention it, there is one more thing..."
Tin Servant surmises a song is coming on smile.gif and wips out a concertina to strike up a chord as TinWoodsman exits frame

We pick up TinWoodsman on balcony to begin the verse:
Tin Woodsman: "Make my Tin Castle glint, While I'm absent,"

Cut to throne room where Tin Woodsman is furiously mopping the floor.
Tin Woodsman: "Make the floors real clean, for my new queen,"

Tin Woodsman flips the mop up and he sings to it as if it were a face.
Tin Woodsman: "Nimmie Aimee... I'm off to see!"

That's just "verse" 1. More to follow...

I'm all ears! And eyes!

Let me know when you want me to start laying scenes out Robert wink.gif I am willing and ready to help in any way biggrin.gif

Getting this Sequence done and getting a check for it would help out with airfare to Hash Bash smile.gif

Now on to the first "chorus"

TinWoodsman is in a hallway, KNOCKING on bedroom doors.

TinWoodsman: "I'm off, I'm gone... I'm off, I'm gone, so long!"

This is outside, somewhere on the palace grounds.
TinWoodsman: "Mow the lawn..."

TinWoodsman: "And walk the dog..."

TinWoodsman: "And feed the Giant Swan!"

Back in the hallway.
TinWoodsman: "I'm off, I'm gone, I'm really getting gone... I'm off, I'm gone, so long!"

more to come.
Rodney
You are crackin' me up Robert. tongue.gif
robcat2075
This is additional elaboration on the last shot above:

TinWoodsman: "I'm off (knock-knock), I'm gone (knock-knock),"

He casually leans on door to turn to Tin Servant
TinWoodsman: "I'm really getting gone, I'm Off..."

But the door flings open
TinWoodsman: "I'm gone..."

TinWoodsman: "So long!"
Scarecrow steps over the body into the hall way
robcat2075
This is the second verse. The scarecrow's room was at the far end of the hallway so this is one long shot as he walks forward towards Woot's Room.

Scarecrow: "Oh, my straw is fresh, (sniff)"

Scarecrow: "I'm dressed in my best,"

Camera closes in as he catches hat on his head
Scarecrow: "My hat is on straight,"

The camera tilts down to his feet
Scarecrow: "And my boots fit my gait,"

Tinman has caught up with Scarecrow
Woot comes out of his room to join them
Scarecrow, TinWoodsman, and Woot: "Nimmee Aimee, We're off to see...!,"

Yes, I'll have to think of something better for that one. Call it a placeholder.

More to follow...

Just catching up on this one.....I'm curious....would TW mop his own floors? He's got a servant for such menial tasks! laugh.gif But I guess he could do it just this once. The sequence is looking good. Can't wait to see some animations.

would TW mop his own floors?

- it gets the mop in his hand so he can sing to it.
- Tin Servant is already playing the concertina
- he's not an iron-fisted despot... a tin-fisted despot, maybe, but not an iron-fisted despot!

...and apparently hes so excited to get to adventuring he willing to get the castle in order (even assist with some mopping) before he leaves. smile.gif

Seems odd at first but in context of a rather silly song it'd fit.
This is Oz after all.

What seems to make this even more interesting is that the song progressively gets more serious as the story moves along. It starts small... internal and personal... and then as they exit the castle to the excitment of the crowd they are all pomp and circumstantial.

This humorous take of "We're Off We're Gone" is rather growing on me. smile.gif

On to the second chorus...

This is a closeup of whatever mechanism controls the drawbridge.
(this is not a split screen, I'm just showing before and after)

TinWoodsman, SC, Woot: "We're off..." (Spin)

"We're gone," (whack!)the drawbridge slams open

Winkies outside react to noise from Tin Castle
"We're off, We're gone, So Long!"

Crossing that drawbridge
"Off at dawn, the bridge is drawn, and with this good-bye song..."

TinWoodsman stops to sign an autograph for a Winkie
"We're off, we're gone..."

then begs off signing any more because
"We're really getting gone,"

waving goodbye
"We're off, we're gone, so long!"

upu next: Woot takes the third verse...

looks good - looks fun - there's a lot of nice variation in shots

it's very interesting to see this develop

Is it just me or did everyone else read Nancy's lines in the same melody as the song?
Rodney
...and here Robert was telling me he couldn't draw. Liar!!!
robcat2075
verse the third...

Tinwoodsman and Scarecrow react to hearing Woot off screen
Woot: "Oh finally..."

Woot is headed down the path towards a crowd of Winkies
Woot: "I'm on a journey..."

Tinman and Scarecrow catch up to Woot
Woot: "I'm off to see..."

Woot stops to emphasize his last line
Woot: "The big Oz!"

Everyone joins in
All: "Nimmee Aimee, we're off to...."
(these are intentionally clichéd musical theater poses)

The music breaks down, the chorus trails off, the Winkies are murmering.
Everyone is staring at Woot

robcat2075
Scarecrow tries to calm the crowd
Scarecrow: "Wait, wait... that didn't come out right!"

Scarecrow dashes off screen the returns with some cue cards
Scarecrow: "Try it again from the double bar..."

Woot studies the card carefully
Woot: "Oh, fina-LEE... I'm on a jour-NEE... I'm off to SEE... "

He can't figure out the last line
Woot: "The big... uh... the big..."

Woot looks up to see Tinman behind Scarecrow

Woot: "Oh! THE BIG Oh-Zee!"
Music comes back in.
TinWoodsman: "He's got it almost!"
Scarecrow: "We'll fix it in post!"

(that's supposed to be the "Field goal" pose Tinman is doing)

next up, the third chorus...
Rodney
Robert you are officially
out of control cant you see
but having a great time too aren't we?

hee! tongue.gif
robcat2075
Well, it isn't Sergei Eisenstein, it isn't Rogers & Hammerstein, but it is "We're Off, We're Gone" storyboarded from beginning to end (kinda) and matched to the music (for those who may not have had it memorized while viewing the drawings).

There are many things the drawings don't make clear but this will give you the general sense of it. Some details are still to be ironed out.

This is a rough edit, there are many spots where the best place to cut for the music isn't the best place to cut for the words... so I did it badly for both!

Thanks, Martin, for your patience in waiting for this! wink.gif

Now he just has to wait for all the extra characters! tongue.gif blink.gif

It looks daunting, but since the band is in uniform and will have instruments in front of their faces, they can all be the same model. The drum major for the band is Tin Servant.

The Winkie crowds are mostly filled out with image mapped hair. Of course we need images to map...

We already have a fat Winkie and a thin Winkie made, it we had about three or four more inbetween Winkies that would be enough to fill out the front row of any crowd and they could be rendered separately to create the hair maps. We could alter the color of their clothes with channels in the chor to disguise obvious duplication of the front row winkies.

Maybe someone could research the technique Soulcage described here for making one variable model for their crowd scenes.

That's great Robert I have started arranging the sets for laying this out I just came home for a day and back up to the cottage tomorow. I want to talk to you some more about some details about laying this out I am dack in town Sunday night and I working days next week maybe we could talk? So far the only set that we don't have is the hallway I wanted to know if Lloyd Moore ever contacted you about details on what you wanted it to look like? I sure I can get this layed out before we finish up are last shots of 2_07 B section so we can merge into this with no problem
