Thanks Jason..

Very concise and informative.

The thickness option had eluded me before but you've explained it perfectly.

Thanks Jason!

This is very much appreciated Jason. I just had to have a go - I have a thing for trees wink.gif ...and this is what my first attempt came out like.
Oh, I added the roots afterwards.

Very nice image Dalemation.

There is a way to have the roots created automagically.
The trick if I recall correctly was in hiding parts of the target mesh. Whatever areas are hidden then become the roots.
I think raising the base off of ground plane level helped too.

Thanks Nancy biggrin.gif The background was just a pic I painted a few weeks back in TwistedBrush. I love that software as the particle brushes enable you to paint trees (yeah, trees again wink.gif ) and foliage in seconds. Loaded as a layer in A:M with a bit of fog. An added Rim light on the tree and all done.

Rodney : I will try out your roots suggestion. Having severe problems with my laptop at the moment though - hmmm, I may ask for advice on that in the Off topic section.
