This new SSS feature will be available in the next v14 alpha release. There are still a few issues to solve but it is already usable as is. Here are a few images and an animated light spin.

Only SSS. No skin shader. The head have a color decal applied to it but it does not covers the back of the head (here hair should be present)..

The feature is quite easy to use and just requires specifying red, green and blue extinction distances on a group surface properties. I will post commented examples when we release the next v14 alpha version.

Beautiful! That will be so useful for giving that lovely, translucent, waxy appearance to skin.
Did you use any blur or is that all from the SSS?

No blur, no post-processing of any sort, not even antialiased (milti-pass but only one pass).

I was expecting this question.
The non-SSS render took an average of 40 seconds per frame while the SSS render took an average of 2 minutes per frame.

There are already 5-pointers and hooks on Nimmie Ammee's head model and they don't seem to cause any outragous artifacts.

Hey Yves, I forgot to ask. Will we be using a decal map do define the area of SSS?
The SSS area is defined as a surface property either for the whole model or for a group. You can use either diffuse colors, material colors or decals for the SSS surface color.
