Hi,

I've been having lots of fun with this -- I like it more then I thought I would. I have some suggestions that I think would really improve it.

1. If you've worked with DeepPaint you know that you can pick textures -- skin, rust, marble, dozens of them – and paint these. I don't know what this is called or even how it’s done but this would certainly be nice to have. This wasn't going to be one of my suggestions but why not – but do the easy ones first (if you do any).

2. Somewhat easier I would think would be a few effects like PS has like 'bevel and emboss'. This by itself would be useful but combined with my next suggestion would put you ahead of PS!

3. Dual brushes (also in PS) or, even multiple brushes (why restrict yourself to two!), each brush able to have a different color and properties and, ah ha!, each able to have one or more of the above effects! This seems like it could be easy... indeed you can do this now by just using two brushes one after the other. And lets separate this from the effects which might be hard and just ask for the simple (I think) dual or multiple brush feature first.

4. The ability to decal a model or group in a normal manner. This could be almost transparent – if you attempt to paint where no decal exists you put one there… or you prompt for user for it.

5. The ability to duplicate existing decals (like you create a transparent 'color' decal and draw cracks on it, then duplicate it for the bump map).

6. Improvements on cookie cut maps -- transparency instead of black.

7. The ability to restrict the axes when rotating.

8. Auto rotate... you can set the object to rotate at a certain speed and while its rotating you can paint it (don't ask me, I just thought of it).

9. The ability to create polygonal adjustable paths -- I guess some vector capability so you can create a shape, adjust it, perfect it and then stroke (outline) or fill it. This might be hard to do and there is probably a way to just use Illustrator or PS to perfect your 'shape' and then some how bring it into and use it within 3DPainter.

10. A Photoshop plug in would be nice but not as important as others on this list.

11. An SDK to expose attributes and properties for others to write plug ins would be nice too – not that I ever intend to write code again (after 20 years I became so burned out that the thought of it turns my stomach – its true!) but, others would.

I could go on and may in a separate post if something really important comes to mind. I was a programmer for 20 years but I never wrote code to display a 3D model and have no idea how it is done off hand.

Please comment... users on these or your own... the author of 3DPainter on if feature enhancements are welcome and/or if you have any questions on any of these.

Cheers and Happy New Year!

I am wondering if this 3d paint program can be used to on obj model that I peaked all points and decaled to match its UV arrangement appearance, I have to export it back to OBJ.

The suggestion is good, I use Zbrush and would be great to have the kind of procedural brush feature but it depends on the popularity and a foreseeable improvement in the future.

I will have it soon after I upgrade AM. laugh.gif

Don't "peak" all the points! It will create a distortion across every patch--see the bottom of this page for an example:
