It's just me your favorite pest.
Something just occured to me, that was never pointed out.
After you download your task files and then want to open them so you can work on your task, Do you have to be ONLINE to do the work or can it be done offline?
I think this has been my problem.

no need to be online - other than to get help of course! and perhaps get files that you missed -
once you have the ones you need, you should be only working with the files that are located locally on your harddrive
