like the image, i've wanted to post this a while ago but when i did i typed the whole thing and got some kind of error and the whole thing was deleted.anyway, heres how i got this render.

my settings

Hair system:
cps 4
density 2%

Hair emitter:
Denisty 2
pv and length 100%
DV 20%
surface: the colors a gradient from white to blue, i gradiented hair worked better then one colored hair.
brightness 100%
thickness: i use the time based method to get the shape
bow 100%
face camera 100%
brighten facing hairs brighten

and thats it.

i also use a smothe gradient along with kleig light with z-bufferd shadows. i prefer those cause they give smother shadows.

heres another render i did for another character useing hair with a higher density, the settings are the same but the hair has 75% bow.
but the hair isn't finished

yup, thx. soon i'm gonna try this with larger hair locks. and ill post a video too.also the first image is an older image, i re-did him with a little more hair density, you know cover some of the bald spots.

What happened in the first picture? Towards the left side of the head the hair is pointy (like in thes picture [attachmentid=20896]) but on the other side of the head the hair is flat ( like in this picture [attachmentid=20897])? Is it a problem with the material? Also in the other picture, I think that her hair is a little too dense, but thats just the way I see it. Are you using a "wig" for the material or are you applying it right onto the model. Because if you use a wig or a decal to control where the hair "grows" maybe you can make it not come out of his ear. But other than that it looks pretty good. smile.gif
the_black_mage
no i prefer not to use a wig, and i can't under stand whey that part of the hair dose that. also the second character is a supposed to look like the sketch.

Wow, that's great! I've just started learning to use hair. I had no idea hair could be used like this in A:M.

Looks like I have a lot mre experimenting to do!

WOW!!! Mage that looks really good. The only thing I'd suggest is to possibly smoothen out the back a bit more. In the render the hair (or mane) on the back of her head looks like it's criss-crossing. IMHO I think it would look better if the hair was more full and contoured. As I looked at the sketch, that's kinda what I see. If you can clean up the cross hatch look, I think it would look better.

Just my opinion. As I said, it really looks good though.

I think what could be happening is the hair isn't flat it's just curled up. If the locks are curled and thick, from a rear angle of the "thick curl" it would appear flat. Especially in toon render.

I could be wrong but I think that's why you don't see the pointy ends on the right side of the mane in the render. I made an illustration to show what I mean.

actualy its like that from all angles......i can't figure out why.
i'll post the newer vertion as soon as i get my internet back
Nunsofamerica
thats cool hair, the boy dog looks like a pokemon character, and the girl dog looks like she could be from all dogs to to heaven. lol
the_black_mage
yeah that may be true, but pokemon and yugioh are pissing people off cause every time they draw an animal or monster they say" THAT COULD BE ON POKEMON" or " THAT COULD BE FROM YUGIOH!!!!" man i hate that.
Nunsofamerica
