Full Version: The Dreaded Deadline Doom!
Hash, Inc. Forums > Featured > Community Projects > Extras II DVD
Rodney
I'm two days past my personal deadline.
I am reassured however that it was a good move to push it back to the 15th.
Now I'm on Hash Inc time... with the end of the world (according to Steve Sappington) to be on 1 Oct 06.

I spend the last two days trying to setup a server just so I could coordinate the all important FileInfo that needs to accompany each item. The bad news is I think being behind the comcast service may prevent me from sharing files via my server. The good news is I've learned a lot about Linux. smile.gif

So... its back to the Hash Inc mirror I'll go.
The plan is to publish piece by piece until it'll all in place.
File size capacity is looking pretty good but I have yet to add all contest entries.
I think we'll have plenty space to spare however and can consolidate the largest files too.

If you are a contributor to the Extra DVD please accept my greatful thanks.
I hope to do justice to your contributions.

The goal is to have a little something for everyone on the DVD.

how do I submit a model?

Easiest ways:

- Post it here
- Email it to me (see email link in my signature)
- Contact me and I'll get you connected to the FTP for large files
- Other option that works best for you

In short, if you have something you would like to contribute I'll do everything I can to get it in place.

Thanks Robert!

Do you want my dad model for the dvd? Here's a pic:

Rodney
Dennis,
I'd consider it an honor to put your Dad on the Extra DVD.
Just make sure it's okay with him! wink.gif

More Dreaded Deadline Doom fun!
I'll call the DVD 50% done cause that'll make me work harder.

I am DEFINITELY not the guy to document these resources.
Every time I see a new model/project/tutorial... I get distracted!

Just spent the last hour watching Zach Brewster-Geisz's animations when I should have been adding his models into the interface.

So... um... Don't bother me... I'm working!!! tongue.gif

(If you donated models but haven't heard from me you might want to check in though... I'm more forgetful than distracted. I want to make sure your contribution gets on the DVD.)

I forgot if you said that my "Shaggy & Scooby" from the last one, which didn't meet the deadline, are getting in on this one, Rodney...

I do have a file named Scooby which I'm sure is the one you reference.
I haven't checked it to make sure Shaggy is there too but I did see the images for the decals and it looks complete.

I specifically searched it out to make sure it got on this DVD. smile.gif

Thanks for the project.
If I was just starting out all over again "Shaggy & Scooby" would be quite an inspiration.

There are a couple other resources that I want to add as tribute models.

I don't have Ken Heslip's 'Gerry' for instance.
I've buried Mikey Mouse too deep... so need to find him.
...I'm sure there are a bunch more but not sure they'll get into this DVD.

I think my Shaggy was renamed "Harry" ALong with all my Cat in the Hat stuff I sent with that.

Doh!

I must be looking at the wrong file then.
I don't see the Cat in the Hat stuff.

I'll look around... and see if I can still get onto Paul Daley's old FTP.
Perhaps its still there.

I have a feeling the "Shaggy and Scooby" I have was probably downloaded from the forum.

<gulp>

martin
Rodney; make sure you get the "Cat in the hat" and "Scooby & Shaggy" models. I love those!

Need another model? I like the model of Gir I made. Do you think it would be benefitial to the A:M community?

Matt,
Not only could the A:M Community benefit from having Gir on the Extra DVD... it could inspirATIONALISE someone.

Please... send it quickly!

If you have it with those renderosity/toon setups... you'd get my extra thanks too!
MattWBradbury
Gir is very pleased to be part of the Extra DVD II

So just email them to you?
Rodney
I've got him Matt.
Now I just need to remember to transfer him to the Extra DVD computer.
Tell Gir I'll do my best.

I won't forget. I won't forget. I won't forget.

Just to make sure. you received two projects from Steve. One for the Dining Room and one for the Girl Room (I renamed it that way to avoid confusion with the Kid's room already in Extra CD vol I).

The credits for those files are :
Girl Room: Tony White and Yves Poissant.
Dining Room: Cindy Grove and Yves Poissant.

I can contribute my half finished yoda if you want him....and if there's still time.

actually Yves, the Kids Room you sent me will completely replace the old Kid's Room- the Extras CD, will 'become' the Extras DVD, the DVD is not 'in addition to' the CD-
ypoissant
Ah! Cool!
Rodney
Yes. There is a collectors aspect to these 'Extras'. smile.gif

As each new 'edition' is published the old is put on the shelf to take its place in Animation:Master history.
Some resources will move forward with the new releases while others may remain in circulation only through A:M friends. Its one way of collecting resources and chronicling our adventures in animation here in the A:M Community.

Some ten years from now it'll be interesting to see who has collected the entire series up to that point.
I plan to still be collecting. smile.gif

Thanks for the contributions Yves!
You've helped to make it a really great DVD.

Note to collectors: I dropped the "'Volume 2" off the splashpage image on the DVD but might put it back.
I thought it might be a bit confusing given the evolution to a DVD.
I'm not opposed to putting it back.
If "Volume 1" is indeed out of circulation with the release of "Volume 2" then this makes good sense to me.

ssappington
Rodney- definitely drop the 'Volume 2' reference- since 'Volume 1' will cease to exist, it doesn't make sense, and I think it will be a while before we have a full DVD of Data only (as the data grows, we can split out the other resources into CDs/DVDs of their own)

Cool, that was a good move then.

On Monday I launch my new career as TWO Hashfester but I also be going into stealth mode for future A:M Extras. Another team/person my want to champion the next A:M Extra but I hope to be ready to assist just in case. Personally I think we could fill another DVD in a year rather easily.
I hope to see the emphasis on quality over quantity in future A:M Extra releases. We've got a very long way to go to document the resources we already have in the A:M Community.

Thanks to everyone for the contributions! smile.gif

For the curious, here is where I am on the DVD versus the deadline:

- I'm mostly locking down the DVD right now (honest Steve!). Anything added from now on will be on the DVD but not in the interface.
- I've had a few corrupted files that had to be replaced (Stian's Alligator for instance).
- I'm missing a few critical files! Eeek!
- Generating Libary files for all major resources.
- Adding images to resources that don't have them!!! Eeek!
- Assorted odds and ends

Current Status: 90% complete

I'll work on this until Steve sends the goon squad to my door.

If anyone is concerned if their contribution is 100% integrated... post here and I'll give you a solid 'CHECK' and/or note on what still needs to be done. You'll be able to spot voids I would otherwise be miss them.
This would also make sure that those who really really want their contribution on the DVD with all parts working as intended get it there as designed.

Changing the content/links in the interface only takes seconds. Generating images and the like takes more time.

Thanks!

Hi Rodney.

Here is the P51-D Mustang that I modelled for Exercise 10. After completing Exercise 11, I went back and added the canopy windows and intake scoop. There is also a cockpit tub in the plane now, so the decalled fusalage doesn't show through the canopy.

I know it is late and if you can't use it on the DVD, not a problem. I am also pretty new with A:M and it may not be up to the standards you are looking for in DVD content.

Thanks and keep up the great work...
Al

Ummm, just realized I can not add the zip file here, so I will send it to you via e-mail.
