I made a hair material and dragged it to my model shortcut. The model now has hair, but for the life of me, I cannot change the color. I tried adjusting the surface atrib. in the material and when that did not work in the shortcut on the model. Just to be sure I hit the spacebar each time. What gives? Am V.13d

Edit: Made another material and now it works. Go figure.

On another note, I am trying to follow Colin's hair tut and find that I cannot groom the hair when I turn Dynamic Options to "on" as per the tutorial. Any suggestions about that?

Further, I am not able to set keys on the timeline to change the thickness of the hair, nor anything else for that matter. What in the world does the timeline have to do with hair thickness anyway??? How do I set a key on the timeline?

Edit: Feel like a dope - Seems you can only set a key in the timeline if you are tweaking the material directly and not the shortcut.

It's been one of those days....

What? No, you're supposed to be keying the shortcut.

I think he means the hair properties like thickness or color, which can be made to change over the length of the hair via keyframes in the property's timeline.

Those keyframes do indeed need to be set in the original hair material, not the chor shortcut.

Yep.
