I know it was posted a while back about the Tinman sleeping. Was it ever decided to drop that part and if so what should his chambers look like? Being king I would suppose it will be grand with lots of space to move about. I checked the wiki and could find no refrence drawings to work off. Who does the refences? I will work on this along side cleaning up and polishing the Scarecrow's room.

No sleeping hence no bed.
This man is made of Tin. There won't be dressers or coat hangers. What would you keep in your personal space if you were made of tin. Suits of armor perhaps? (agep is already building those.) A pegboard of tools? Stian (agep) also made a steam-powered tin bicycle a while back: I think it would go great in this room.
What clever engineer things can you think of?

If he did have a dresser, I'm sure it would have on it a can of Brasso and some 3-in-1 oil. Maybe a set of hammers for beating out those small dents too. And a box of spare rivets. (Or are these too 'workshop' for personal space?)

If I were a meat man... changed magically into Tin...
I'd have some things from my past.
The problem with that is that we don't want to interfere with Tin Woodman's jolt back to reality when he remembers Nimmie Amee and triggers the flashback.
So... let me approach this from the negative.
Tin Woodman probably should not have anything related to his life before becoming made of tin.
I would suggest a couple mirrors.
At least one on the wall and one hand held.
Easier to oil those rough spots in a pinch.

I know tin-servant buffs him up for the "special occasion", but what about day to day buffing. Maybe the servant can't always buff him. How about a machine to do a quick job of things? Perhaps a small bit of elegant, uncomfortable, furniture (tin servants doing).
Al I'll just lay this one out myself. I'll whip up a proxy model this weekend so PFMark (who is doing the scene) will have something to work with).

I like that.
That would be a funny scene with him sitting in it - getting buffed up, rollers whirring on the arms, seat bottom - I get an image in my mind of brush rollers jostling & vibrating him - and causing his voice to quiver as he speaks...

I like the idea as well.
While working on Act1 Seq 2, I imagined that there should be some workers in scafoldings buffing the castle in the background. It does not make sense that the castle would stay so clean. I know we are in a fantasy land but I thought those buffer characters could make nice side stories. I can imagine one of them getting down the scafolding and running with his towel to buff the path behing Woot after he walked on the bridge or something. These workers would need to be pretty obsessive compulsive.

It would also bring a nice breath of life to the world. I know the main characters should be the center of attention but the background characters would give it that extra *umph*.

I've began work on the Tinman's Chambers. I've got a proxy model done and I've started on the Final version. It's the same dimensions as Scarecrow's bedroom, except I've added a small addition to one side. I intend to place his 'workshop' in this area and include a large stained glass window. Since he doesn't have a bed I thought it would allow me to fill the empty space up. I should have pics ready sometime in the following week. Al, would you like me to send you the model for the proxy to look at?
I'm also continuing to tweak the textures for Scarecrows bedroom. Toning down the colors, less busy wallpaper design. Nothing to serious as I consider the set on svn final product.

I was outta cell range, I had a meeting with my lawyer. Seems I'm being sued. Oh well. I tried e-mailing the blanket to you but our IP provider is having problems and the net has been touch and go. I'll try it again. Good to hear we're still on with this set. One question, you never did say how you want the blanket sent. If I send it via just a model you'll need to adjust it your self. Or I can adjust it to fit and then send it to you.

Just the model but with or rig that you talked about in it. I will need to set it up alot seeing it bends over the bed and over part of the scarecrow so if you don't have SVN updated to what I have that would not be possible for you to do soI think just the model. I will try to call you tonight if I can.
Being sued! man when are you going to get a break
Ilidrake
Sep 18 2006, 04:23 AM
I'm not sure if it's a break or not but I've decided to take another job. I'm heading off-shore to work on a drilling rig. The pay is triple what I'm making now and God knows I could use the money. Anyway this is probably going to be the last day at my old job. This is how my new job works:
I'll leave here and go off-shore for 2 weeks. I won't have access to the internet or a computer so no modeling for me, just work 12 hours, sleep, repeat for 14 days.
I come home after my hitch and I have.......ta-da!!! 2 weeks off! In which time I will have High-Speed-Internet hoooked. Then of course for 2 weeks I'll get to model my little heart out.
Of course after 2 weeks at home I have to go back out and the whole process will repeat.
So as you can see it will be 2 weeks before I can post, model, or do anything AM related. But I promise, as soon as I get in and get the net hooked up I'm gonna download the svn, post pics of Tin Woodman's chamber, and get all these problems of mine taken care of. Wish me luck guys.

Ok Lloyd see you in two weeks and good luck with the new job. I am trying to get a different job as well right now and I have some studing and testing then hopefully some interviews. So I myself might not be able to spend as much time on TWO for the next week so this might time out perfectly for us.

How about just starting with the room. That way we can see what is needed.
Ilidrake
Dec 27 2006, 07:47 AM
It's easier to model the room if I know what's going in it. You start with four walls and a floor and then find out that all the props don't fit and it sucks, cause then you have to resize the walls, floors, molding, windows.....etc. So I would like a rough idea of whats going in it.

Okay here's the basic room, and I mean basic. Window and dias for bed. I'd like to add a small workshop as well. It's bear bones right now. I'm working on a design for the window and perhaps a large bookshelf.

I've added the door and the floor molding. I would really like some feed-back on the windows. I've applied the design for them as a decal and would like to know if that design is fine before I model it. Also, is there someone who would like to texture this? I do not have the svn on my computer and probably will not download it because of it's sheer size. So once this is complete I'm going to need someone to upload it for me.

Here's the window as I see it. No materials yet. Is this design okay for everyone? I'm not sure what to do with the columns in the center of the room but I'm sure something will hit me.

Not real sure about furniture for his room, so I decided to make a few props myself. Here's a tin table which will be placed under the arches along with matching tables. A chandelier will hang from the arches. Lemme know what you guys think before I start pouring too much into the scene.

A simple tin chair (although I'm not pleased with the look) I think I'll continue to tweak this. For now it will be a place holder for me.

Wow! You're cruisin'!
I'd have to say that the furniture looks fantastic! The style is perfect for the castle
I think some of those loopy designs would really spice those pillars up too!

Jan 1 2007, 11:20 PM
Here's the room with all the furniture I've modeled so far along with a few textures. Not sure if the materials are what we want (someone else may need to work on them) but if gives a general idea.
And if it gets to a point where it looks good and finished someone say something. I have the tendancy to continue tweaking, modeling, and working until my fingers bleed.

Okay, I have one more major piece of furniture left to whip out...the mirror. I plan on doing it with something that kinda pays tribute to the Wizard of Oz, if that's okay with you guys. So far it's looking awesome. Going to bed now so I'll post it later today.

Jan 2 2007, 02:33 PM
Okay. Here's the completed mirror for his room. Not sure about the textures. I kinda threw some on, but someone can change them if they don't work. Anyway, moving on to the pillars to refine them and add a bit of detail. I think it was agep who modeled the armor. Nice models man! Thanks for doing them.
