I'll also make an attempt on some pictures and picture frames, just tell me what the pictures should be of.

You get the cookies and tray. Any type will do. Yoop isn't fussy.
Don't worry about pictures for the time being. I have an idea to alter Yoop into her husband for a picture of the two of them. But if you see any landscape/sea pictures that might fit in then it could work. I'm also thinking of images of characters with moving/blinking eyes.

Here's a quick silver tray. I'm no wizz at texturing(<-Greatest understatement of all times), but I could try'n add some ornaments if that's preffered?
Now to make some cookies... First to model an oven, then some dough, let it render for 45 min and *pling* I'll have some cookies to show aswell.
-----------------------------------------------
EDIT:
Added cookies!
Now for the ornaments...

I can't help myself - How about more more cookies on the tray with LOTS of them with a bite taken out of them ? - as if Mrs. Yoop has tryed them and put them back...something, of course I would know nothing about.

Great to be here! Now about the cookies... I thought about making chocolate chips, but I ran out of cocoa... Ok, so they were just too hard to model! >.< I spent one hour and ended up with a sugar-cookies instead.
Nancy - more cookies to come, if I can get the grip of cookie-cutting and such to make bites, then bites shall be added... or removed... or... you get the point!

Tasty cookies you have there, Stian... I tried to load the project, but it kept asking for a few files I couldn't find anywhere on my computer, so I'm guessing you didn't embed everything?
Anyways, here's the tray with some ornaments added to them:
PS!
The silly decal decided to create some visible clipping somewhere, but they seemed to kind of fade out with the specularity, or are my eyes cheating me?

Hand's will grap around the mirror.
I think it would be nice if the eyes open up when someone passes and than look at them.
Still a lot to tweak.

Wow, sweet mirror Russel! Love how the creature "wraps" itself arround the mirror.
Stian, found the problem, I'm not hooked up to SVN yet (if I'm going to be, I don't know), so I don't have the darktree materials.
Anyways, it's not like the cookies and the tray has to be in the same project, do they? So just slap them trough to SVN and they'll meet the tray sooner or later.

Ok I'm starting the spider tonight. Are there any concepts already for it? Do we want Tarantula'ish, Widowish or like the one in Lord of the rings. Sinister or friendly. I guess I'll start it and go for semirealistic and adjust when I see a reply. Thanks.

That is in fact outstanding!
Should fit right in.
You make me wonder if as the mirror's eyes open we might see in the mirror the view of our heroes from his perspective? It would be dim... cloudy... through a glass darkly type of thing... you know what I sayin'?
Just a thought inspired by your wonderful model.

Sorry Martin, I leaped before I looked more carefully. I'd like to take a crack at that stairs and stone walls. Didn't see any ref's of the spider (not sure if I am going too realistic). I'll go study it some more.

In the animatic there's a bunch of scary creatures that surround Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, and Woot. There's also a flying bug that Woot's cookie turns into. I'm not sure what exact "spider" Ken is referring to? I'd say, pick any scary creature that might be a "spider" and do that - it counts.

Are those eyeballs at the top? If so, use the "Uber Eye." The chains look good. They might be a good opportunity for you to learn how to use dynamics to make them wiggle, (or not, if you think you'd be over your head). Maybe somebody else would like to put dynamics on the chains?

WHEW!!! Thanks Jage, Here's a color shot just to see how it looks blackish. I seem to have normals that keep getting flipped on 5 point patches. You can see an anomaly in the left eyebrow (like a crease) and I have'nt had this problem before. I can try some sparse hair on this thing and it's also gonna get a decal for the spot on the abdomen as well as a bump for the body texture and facial textures.

OK, here's a first textured version of the mirror.

I have to find a way to get rid of those artefacts next to the eyes. I think they are due to the displacement map and the 5-point patches. But strangely the only appear at these 5-point patches and at none of the others.

I have a design suggestion if you'd care to implement it.
It's something to subtley effect the the viewer's mood.
Its the old 'Is it a vase or is it a person?' illusion... and I think it could be used in patterns throughout Yoop's Castle. Think about it...
Candle stands.
Vases.
Columns.
Bannister supports.
This theme would in effect add thousands of 'invisible' faces to effect the mood.
I did a few simple tests as a proof of concept.
I'll refine a bit and post them here.

Rodney
Aug 21 2006, 10:15 AM
Here's the proof of concept.
Obviously there would be a lot more variety in shapes, textures and shadows.
Top is Ken's original set.
Bottom the basic idea for face shapes in columns, bannisters, wall enclosures etc.
The scale of 'invisible faces' wouldn't necessarily be as large.
The real trick would be in the staging, lighting and position relative to our heroes.

I love your mirror Russel -
it would be funny if there were a scene that when Mrs. Yoop looks into mirror or passes by it either:
a) the mirror cracks & screams in horror and puts it's hands up to hide its eyes
EDIT: and maybe the mirror part crashes to floor with a loud noise as the hands release it
or
B) mirror reflects some sexy thin babe (like a funhouse mirror)

Yup, that's the right set. I think the door will have to be larger to accomodate Mrs Yoop. Alain's drawing calls for a well but some kind of enchanted fountain would fit in there.
