I took a picture of some daisies then alpha channeled it to remove the background applied them as a hair image in a hair matrial to a large ring of eight patches. The denisity is .03 and the height and width is 50cm.
Then rendered. Except for some pattern on the edges I thoought it looked okay and rendered quickly. might try to flip image then have two hair images and eliminate the edge pattern hopefully

I like, I like....those edges can/could be hidden or covered up if used in a final scene, and for a test that is sweet....

I belive it looks more than good enough if it was, let's say, just for background purposes.
