Hello fellow Hashers.

I am haveing problems with the PORCELAIN material on the 2005 CD. If anyone has a good copy of the material I would be very greatfull if you could send it to me @.

www.rdjstyle2003@yahoo.com

I have searched the forums to see if anyone else was haveing the same problem. And there were a few and people e-mailed them a good copy of the material.

Other then that I am haveing alot of fun working with Hash splines. The more I play the more I learn.

Thanks to anyone who can help me with this.

well thats a problem. Because when I applie the material to the object nothing happens.

This is how I am applying the material to my mesh.
1. I click on>File > Open......
2. I browse to the Hash 2005 CD and find the Porcelain.mat located on the CD. and click > Open.....
3. I now see the Porcelain.mat in the viewport.
4. I close the view port changeing nothing.
5. I drag and drop the Porcelain.mat onto my objects name in the project workspace window.
6. Nothing happens.
7. I make sure that I use the <pageup> button before I apply the Porcelain.mat so my object is as smooth as possible.

If it helps I checked the Porcelain.mat file size located on the CD. And it is 321kbs .

I think Iam applieing the .mat correctly. If Im not please help me out here. I have 50 views on this topic and only one reply. Now That tells me that everyone who viewed this topic is haveing the same problem. Or they would of e-mailed me the file. If I am wrong Iam sorry. If someone needed something as simple as a material and I had it I would happly send it to them.

robcat2075 thanks for helping me out.

Well---I don't think you have a 'bad' porceline material... I don't think it can go bad, especially reight off the disc. I DO think that there is an issue with the way V13 handles porceline.

Could be it's not doing what you expect it to do. You apply it by dropping it on a group. It has one setting under properties, which by default is 100%. Once applied, there will be no visible change to your model until rendered, or SHIFT-Q previewed. It 'should' give the surface a smoother, more refined finish. It helps with creases, but is not a cure-all.

The nature of this list is a lot of newbies and lurkers and outsiders cruising around trying to get a feel of whats going-on and looking for cool samples.
There are a LOT of people who will lend a hand tho- eventually.

BEST!

Thanks for the reply John Bigboote, I do respect and understand what you are saying about newbies and lurkers.

The current version of AM: I am useing is version 12v+ I also purchased TSM2 and weight mover. I havent upgraded to 13 yet due to it is still being develope.

I also know it is not a cure all. I have been working with 3-D for 4 years now. Well poly based that is. and around 6 months with AM: .

I dont post much here because whenever I have a question or problem I use the search function. I know that 99% of my questions or problems have been asked and answered. Also I am not experience enough with AM: to help answer question. But that will change as soon as I feel I can answer and help in a positive way.I do offer tutorials for a poly based 3-D package. But thats not for this forum. But it does show that I do what I can to help others. I hope you are right when you say others will help me out.

If anyone could send me the Porcelain.mat file it would help me out a great deal.

Porcelain only takes effect when you render. You don't say if you've done that.
MP3D
John Bigboote I realy do appreciate you trying to give me the file. I will remember that in the future.

KenH I have rendered the object. And still no joy. But thats a good thing to know.Thanks.... I will find another way. I think I will contact HASH to see if they can help me out.

Anywho. I will keep trying to work this out.

Could you post a pic of the model you're putting porcelain on?

Or the model?

Porcelain works in realtime for me.

Porcelain works in Real Time when you are "Paged Up" as far as you can go.

ok I found the problem. Microsoft Access was messing it up. Everytime I would try to drag and drop the .mat from the CD to my desktop it would create a shortcut. And instead of the files icon looking like a .mat file it would look like Microsoft Access. So I uninstalled office 2000 and it works. Dont ask me how but it realy does.

Just to make sure that the file is the right size. It is 638 bytes. Can someone confirm this.

So any who I applied .mat file to my object and BAMMMMMM!!!!! smoothy... cool.gif ...

robcat2075 here is the model I made. This is the second model I have ever made in AM:. He is for a buisness. I have a small free lance 3D buisness that keeps me pretty busy.
