In my opinion, the interior set for the throne room of the Tinman's castle, as it's currently stored in the SVN repository, needs to be revised to give it a proper directory structure and proper folder and model filenames.

When I asked Noel about this, he said it was do-able but warned me that messing with SVN risks ruining other people's work if they're working on the same files. As far as I know I am the only one working on the throne room interior model. If revising anything in the

Models/Set_chors/Tinmans Castle/final castle/rr_throneroom

sub-directory is going to cause grief for anyone, now is your chance to warn me.

It depends on what you intend to do. Because the set is assembled mostly through action objects, you should be able to change the actions (and the files they link to) without throwing anyone off. But if you move those actions or the base model it would probably break links in all the projects.

Email me or post here with the changes you want to make (which files do you want to move) and I can help figure out for wsure if it'll cause trouble

Rhett,

Here is the current sub-directory structure within ...\Tinmans Castle\final castle\

rr_throneroom
___decals
___furniture
______dais
_________throne_dais_v13.mdl
___materials

I would prefer to:
- rename rr_throneroom to Throne Room Interior
- create a new sub-directory named models at the same level as decals and materials
- delete throne_dais_v13.mdl (since it now is stored with the rest of the room's models) as well as the dais and furniture sub-directories
- move all .mdl files from Throne Room Interior to models leaving only the files, throne_room_build.prj and throne_room_assembly.act
- rename all *.mdl filenames within models that currently end with '_v13' to remove those characters; i.e. throne_room_staircase_v13.mdl becomes throne_room_staircase.mdl

The new, better organized, directory will appear as follows:

Throne Room Interior
___*.act
___*.prj
___decals
______*.* (all image files)
___materials
______*.mat
___models
______*.mdl

I can rename most of files on my end. I'd have to do that anyway to add the '_v13' characters to all my models (they were added by Jody when he was converting my v12 files for SVN). The only two files in rr_throneroom on the repository which I did not create are:
scarecrows_furniture.act
throne_room_throne_placement.act

I'm hoping that rebuilding them in Throne Room Interior is not that much effort.

I know this sounds pretty anal but part of my process for finishing a model is creating an organized directory structure and filename convention since it saves wear and tear on the brain. (e.g. I've never seen the use for A:M's Library function.)

Whad'ya think?

I think this'll be fine, Rodger. The throne room set we're using at the moment is a proxy anyway so if the throne room is better organized it'll be that much easier to make the switch later.

Go ahead and do your reorganizing but please don't delete the existing rr_throneroom folder. Add "Throne Room Interior" to SVN as a new folder. Once you commit that I'll make sure nothing's using the old set and delete rr_throneroom/.

There should be very little rebuilding to do. It should just be a matter of re-linking the files you rename (taking out the _v13 part of the name). Outsdide of your work there are only 3 models to re-link, Scarecrow's table and chair and the throne.

Thanks Rodger. This set is amazing!
