Full Version: asking for contributors?

i noticed a few posts where people have asked for
other people to contribute to their projects

and i'm wondering, can you really do that?
like lets say im working on a project that requires
110 models, and it takes about a week to build
each model

so i could go online and ask for people to contribute
models to this project, and some people would
actually do it?

The problem is there are already so many projects like that.

Hash has TWO, and is sorely in need of volunteers, so my guess is you won't get too many responses.

yes, it's true:

all modelers everywhere are working on two.

so don't even ask.

it would be wrong.

very wrong.

incredibly very wrong.

ps: one or more of these statements may be sarcastic... try to guess which.

It never hurts to ask, but, you're asking people to contribute a lot of their personal time to a project that they will get little or nothing from. If they gained either monetarily or with free training (like the apprenticeship program) and/or the project was incredible, you would stand a better chance of getting help...in my opinion.

What are you offering contributors and where are the materials that they can view to help them decide whether it would be worth working on?

Good luck on the project.

There's a new forum set up for this very thing.

...and there's even a link to it!

I got really lucky with my post in the collaboration section. But I went through AM stills and looked for what I needed then PM or E-mailed the creature of that model and very importantly you have to tell them if this project is for profit or non profit (volunteer). I got lucky and my project it non profit but will be aired on my local cable station for the opening of the Santa Claus Parade. SO we all can see what we have created on TV! and I asked for work that was already made and I said PLEASE. Which can and did go a long way the people on this Forum are amazingly talented and generous!

Next there is a cool factor besides TWO there is another effort called FOX 389 or something sorry tittle escapes me now. They are doing that huge battle scene were the borg almost whips out the federation and the Star Trek fans and people that thinks modeling space ships are fun are working on that so there are already success storys think of things that will draw people into helping you making a great animation is too much for most of us one person AM users but if you can pull some of us into your project the results can be mind blowing. Check out TWO stuff and see!
