I need hair braids for my model, but cannot seem to get it to work, i suppose knowing how to braid in the first place might help. I have played around with the extruder, but no luck.

I'd be interested in how this was done as well - (not necessarily a tutorial) - but to achieve the braid around scarecrow's neck as shown in this image:

Was it copy & paste of 1 V shaped braid element - done manually multiple times? using duplicate? or sweeper ? or ?

If modeling, such as the rope, I think the duplicator/extruder plug-in whatchamacalit...

If doing hair, then I would try braiding splines and using the "strand" type of hair material. [Hold down SHIFT, when changing attribute type to particle>hair]

The one on the scarecrow is modeled by Hutch.
I'm sure he'd be able to guide you.

There is the ol' v11 Locks of Hair however if you want to stick with particle hair.

Remember: The secret to creating the old, old hair materials is to hold the SHIFT key down when creating your material.

It may or may not serve your purposes.

I have a tutorial for modeling a French braid in A:M v8.5 (I think) on my website.
http://www.holmesbryant.com/pages/05.Anima...d/00.Start.html

The tutorial is geared toward pig tails and pony tail type braids though. In order to do something like Scarecrow's "necklace", you would have to do a bit of extra work.
