Has anyone tried to do hair similar to Violet's from the Incredibles? an image http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808405432/photo/549126
In terms of the look of it or the animation? She would make a great test for getting the dynamics down...

Both look and animation, but I would guess it would be easier to get the look.

Yes, actually I began modeling the Violet character from the incredibles last year for a demo reel I was making at the time. I ended up putting the project for her on hold indefinately do to time constraints. I just had a look and do still have the test animation for her hair. It would still take some refining and v13 would probably do a nicer job (was done in v11.1). Still I was happy with it and had I worked on it even more am sure I could get even closer (took about 15min to get this look). I have an uncompressed file of it (about 28MB) if you can think of a way of getting. I currently don't have webspace at the moment.

Chris; how about donating the project so that someone else can pick up the "Violet" torch and run with it. You can attach the file here, or send it to the Hash FTP. I'd love to see someone get interested and explore all the possibilities of long, beautifully straight Violet hair!

Sure I don't mind donating it. I haven't had time to adjust the hair to keep it from passing through the ball. I just rendered a test animation with longer hair than my original test had. I'm posting the animation too. Hope someone has fun with this!
Well let's try this again. Sorry couldn't add the animation as the file was bigger than the allowable attachment size.

i'm not sure about it, but for me it looks like they used cloth for her hair. maybe it's 'real' hair on top of the head though. but i bet it's a mapped patch with cloth simulation for the swinging hair.
i dunno if AM cloth is capable of something like this, but it improved a lot. so it's definitely worth a try.
