Here is a tutorial on the basics of making a facial pose, based on the facial pose tech talk video. Martin asked me to post it here and ask for someone to proofread it. Please go through it and let me know if it is clear and works for you.

Thanks!
Caroline
That has to be one of the best tutorials I've ever used - well written - the format is very easy to read and follow - there were bookmarks for the section headings - I learned several new things. Thank you.

The only place I came unstuck was because I skipped over unlocking the CPs, but that was my user error.

Holmes, my first impression of this tutorial (and the other one on cloth) is that they are very beautifully layed out, and have a visual style that makes me want to read them.

And I am not disappointed when do read them - very clear, direct statements.

I haven't actually tried yet to follow them with A:M open, they make sense just reading them. But there is new info there for me, that I definitely would want to try when I finally get around to it.

Excellent job. 4 thumbs up

EDIT: One thing I noticed tho, was in the description on "deleting the pose" - I was under the impression that one also had to delete the relationship (from the relationship folder) as well as deleting the pose from the user properties, if one wanted to truly be rid of the bugger ? Not true?

When I deleted the pose from the user properties panel in v13s, the corresponding relationship was also deleted, but the relationship folder itself was not deleted. I considered this as "deleted" even though the empty folder was left behind. I can add a note though to let the person know where to find the empty folder if they want to delete it.

Change: http://www.s1.hashmirror.com/ftp/pub/movie...rtskin_Demo.mov
To: http://www.hash.com/ftp/pub/movies/techtal...rtskin_Demo.mov

("s1.hashmirror" to "hash.com" in any link) and it should work.

Anyway the links should be fixed.

Actually...
I think this entire topic could be removed.
Its been duplicated in the Tutorials section since just over a year ago... Nov 2007.

Will is a busy guy so I duplicated the Tech Talks there so I could edit any links if they ever broke again. (I can't edit posts in the Tech Talks forum)

So... DO NOT click on the Tech Talk links here in this topic. (Holmes's Facial Pose Tutorial you can still download)

Click the Tech Talk links in the Tutorials forum instead

See post below.
Jason has fixed the links.

Thanks Jason! smile.gif

Matt,
No, these are not linked via the website.
At least not yet.

We'd need to edit them down to more viewable sizes before linking there.
Some of these videos are really huge.

They'd make great A:M Channel shows on Youtube too.

Well worth watching though if you've got the time and bandwidth.
They are videos of the technical side of features from the perspectives of those who wrote the features themselves.

Watch 'em! smile.gif
