Ok....

I was trying to follow the tutorial for creating grass that I found on the ARM......

but I don't seem to have gotten anywhere.

I selected the area of my cave that I wanted to have grass....then I flipped the normals on that area.
I created a particle system hair material, adjusted the parameters according to what was in the tutorial,
did a test render.......

and nothing but naked cave.

What did I do wrong??

Check your render settings and make sure that you have hair turned ON. Rendering hair is usually a big time hit, so I think the default is OFF.

Hmmm ok turned hair on, still no hair. However, my cave is showing as being only 60cm across, and I think I made the grass .2cm thick, so of course I don't believe its at the right scale. I will try and scale it up and see what happens

Ok, NOW I have visisble hair, but its at 100% thickness and its pretty darn sparse for grass.

And its gray.

I'm guessing the hair takes on attributes of the patch/material color underneath.

So I can change that.

But that doesn't change the fact that its at 100% thickness and my sod looks a little........sparse, shall we say.

Ideas?

Try turning the density up to around 350 to 400.

Thanks......I think that did the trick.
