I dunno if anyone is interested in this, but hey. I'm re-rendering my Cell-Phone movie for video, and decided to do it in 13 for the AO goodness. Here's a result:
[attachmentid=16580]

It's taking an average of 30 minutes per frame (on a 1.3 GHz G4), but I think it's worth it.

Incidentally, I've already prevailed upon one friend to help with the rendering. If anyone else wants to join the cause, please PM me! smile.gif

Zach,
After V13 is released and we upgrade the farm, I'll drop you a note.
It will depend on project load at the time.

Zach,

I haven't (and still don't) have much time to play with A:M, but I have a 2.8 gig P4 Hyperthreading with 2 gig of memory sitting here idle with V12 and V13 on it. I'd be glad to let it cook some frames for you.

Email me if you want to take me up on it.

it looks a little too dark i think

you may want to lower the ambient occlusion setting in the choreography to make the shadows lighter tongue.gif

Is that white verticle bar supposed to be in the render?
ZachBG
Yes, it's a "film scratch."

Ya know, since it's a "silent era" look movie, how about if you sepia toned it? Then the scratches would show up even if they were on the "white" background.

Sepia tone is guaranteed comedy.

Sepia tone is guaranteed comedy.
Especially if it comes with a plinkety-plink piano accompaniment.

Stuart, who also worried about the white line, but realised he was in the company of genius and so thought he'd better not mention it.

Can't you use the Apple video edditing software? It has sepia, old timey film grain (which includes hairs and lines) and you can string it all together relaly quickly. That way you wouldn't have to put the film grains on the render.
ZachBG
Um... that's exactly what I did, Matt. smile.gif Remember the old adage about "Assume"?

The final product will actually use Nattress' "film damage" plug in, courtesy of Mike Stamm.
