What going on out there?! We contacted a couple dozen people to help out on texturing the hundreds of TWO props and sets but had no response. Isn't there anyone out there who will take the TWO texturing on their back and make it happen? Someone please just say "I'll do it!" and assume command.

I could do a few props when I set up the render of all the props.

You are.

Kathryn,

It's pretty easy. Just look at the props and models and think about what they would be made of, then drag and drop materials out of the library onto those groups.
Do a render and post it, and I will give feedback and help where I can. We will use materials where we can, and decals where we need them. Painting decals requires a bit more work--I know that you are still new, so just ask any questions and I will help you smile.gif

Nice!--See,that was easy smile.gif

Keep going like this--anything you see that eiher needs a texture, or could use some tweaking...Post here, and I will give you feedback.

Do you understand the Send and Recieve functions in the Community window? You can now SEND, and your changes will be uploaded for everyone to access.
I have a post in this subforum about using the Tweaks on the Darktree materials as well, so be sure to try them and ask any questions you might have...[What is good about answering questions on the forum, is that more than one person might have that same question, and be helped by the answer.]
martin
BEWARE, some of the models are not to scale! You need to change them to the right scale (in a Model window) before applying materials. Use other correctly scaled TWO models as a size reference. (Some materials are scale-independent, but why take the chance?)

i have not sent any thing in the commuinty yet, but i'll' check your note on it, and i'll check the size of the models before texturing

ok i was able to save the file in the community window, i had to do a upgrade to the SVN. one question? i'm using darksim in material , not in the libraries, is that ok? here is the milk can. wink.gif
zandoriastudios
Use the Darksim materials from the LIBRARY, if you can, rather than making from scratch.
If you do make a material from scratch, be sure to save it to an external file inside the appropriate location in the TWO Data directories. That way it will be uploaded when you send, and be available to the rest of the team.

i cannot find darksim in the library material, it's not threre, i have Darksim installed in v13 in material, so i used that for the texture, for the lettering, i made a decal and saved it with the model. should i save it where? could you explaine a bit more thanks unsure.gif
zandoriastudios
The materials in the TWO library, in the Darksim folder use the Simbiont plug-in, they are ready to just drag and drop on an object or group.
Do you have your Library path pointing to the Shared data/Libraries/TWO.lbr ?

Yes, the TWO darktree library is on the svn so you have to download them. They're in the Shared Data>Materials folder.

thank you i thougth i was going crazy i looked all over v13 library. i'm still in the process of downloading, i have all the models and props i thought i had it all , so in the mean time, untill i get it all downloaded, can i use the Darksim in v13 material for the TwoData props smile.gif ?
zandoriastudios
unless your darktrees as well as your materials are saved into the SVN structure, other users are not find the darktree compmonent when they load your prop....
That is why I set up the TWO.lbr and all of those materials ahead of time. If you use those, then everything will work fine.

Otherwise you will have to uploade the .mat and the .dts into a directory in the SVN directory structure and then make sure you load your darktree from there when making the material, so that all the relative paths will be right for anyone else opening your prop--to me, this is going to be a much harder way to keep everything straight...

If you are using darktrees from the free online repository--ALL of them are part of the TWO Library. If you load your darktrees from there when making a custom material, all will be good wink.gif

hum, all the darktrees i have, are from the free online repository, all original, unchanged by me. so as long as i save them into SVN S - Two Data community it's ok... i tried to stop the download from the recieve of the Two data, so i could download TWO L ibrary... But it just starts up where it was left off. so its updating models and adding some new ones. maybe i should wait untill i get the TWO library smile.gif i want to help with the texturing ,but i don't want to mess things up for the next guy,
zandoriastudios
Don't save them(the darktrees) into SVN--they are ALREADY a part of the repository! In fact, they are already made as A:M materials, so that you can drag and drop them onto a model and then adjust the "tweaks" in the material shortcut.

Finish downloading the data, then look at the TWO Library. You will see all of the stuff I'm talking about, ready to use.

smile.gif
KenH
Also just to reiterate.....

When you drag the material onto your model and you want to edit the properties of the material, do it in the material shortcut inside the model....NOT the one under the Materials Folder in the PWS.
bentothemax
I could help out with materials... not so sure about mapping stuff, but i could I can definately help out with materials.

I havn't completed the AM book learning tuts, but I have done most of them.... Before i joined the forums.

Just post back

Thanks

zandoriastudios
Pat, can you get logged on to SVN and download the models.
Once you are ready, I could use your help painting decals for the faces.

If you have SKYPE, we can talk about the project, or you can email me at wls@zandoria.com

Ben,
There is a Library of materials as part of the SVN repository that should be used for this project. contact me once you are set up with SVN, and I will coordinate with you on what we need to work on first.

Thanks
martin

Hey, good to see you signing up, Patason. I've always admired your work.
sonofpat
I could not pitch in before because I was doing post grad work.

I have downloaded version 13 and the tortoise SVN, however, I'll be switching over from dial-up to DSL by Wednesday (the delay is due to my ISP) of the coming week; so I do not think I'll be able to get much done before and also I will be unable to use SKYPE until then.

I will still see what I can do by Sunday in terms of getting the feel of the whole SVN-Dot Project arrangement.
So let's see how things go

BTW Martin, your software brought out the artist in me and I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

I'm really looking forward to help

Patason

I had promised Martin that I would help with the texturing, and I want to keep that promise. My two problems are that I have v10.5 and don't have any of the fancy texturing stuff like Darksim. Can I still help? If so, please let me know how and I will do whatever you neeed.

Nima
zandoriastudios
Nima,
Everything will have to be donein V13. Simbiont is built-in to it. If you can upgrade, it would be great to have you help!
C-grid
Hello,

I make my textures with TextureMaker(.com), if some specific textures are needed (for TWO).

Niels.

[EDIT] I don't have an internetconnection(at home) and live in The Netherlands, that's why I offer nothing further, it would probably mean too much hazard that way.
Nima Anvar
Unfortunately right now I can't afford the upgrade. I've spent quite a bit of money on some other big ticket items, and I just can't justify the upgrade to my wife. I really wish that I could be of help, especially because I've taken a break and this would be a nice way to get started again. Any ideas?
