Hi
Kevin (cosmonaut) will take the corridor set in hand.
Here is the thread for the corridor set
Everyone who is willing to help is welcome to show up here.
Thanks to Kevin!
So to start you up,
I've created some directories on SVN
data\Shared Data\Models\Set_chors\Tinmans Castle\final castle\Corridor
Put your files there.
I've also create two sub-directory : proxie and ressource
proxie dir have a .mdl of the corridor proxie, I've extracted it from Bob's general castle proxie
ressource dir have a copy of Rodger pillar and arch...
so you can adapt it in your corridor assembly.
BTW look how Rodger's throne room is built into an action files, using action object.
This should be the way to go for your set too.
Your welcome to invite any friend of your to help in modeling.
there is some sketches available for the corridor somewhere on the wiki site???

I see you corrected my name, I was wondering who this Steve guy was and how he stole my username...
Anyway, looking forward to getting started this weekend. One problem though, I can't seem to find your sketches. I've looked through the twiki and can't seem to find them anywhere. I don't have the wiki login and browsing the public area comes up empty on the castle set design page. Any ideas?

I see them under "Designs/Set Designs/Tin Woodman castle," (then wait for a while for all the big images to load).

Still no luck, I've tried at work and at home, IE and Firefox. Under IE I get a bunch of X's. Any chance you could just post the pictures here? Thanks.

Hi Kevin
Those sketches are just inspiration...base your work on the animatics.
and use Rodger's pillar and other castle element in your contruction(**work from copy )
so we keep the general design and style overall the castle.

Ok, thanks. One question ... how close to the proxy do I need to make this thing?
KenH
Apr 17 2006, 09:54 AM
The corridor proxy follows the over head sketch done by Bob of the rooms. That has been changed drastically now with the new throne room and the garden is in a totally different place in the castle.
No animation has been done yet in the corridors (right?) so I would say you have a clean slate. I don't think you need be too nitpicky with these sets as they won't be in the movie very long.
alweb
Apr 17 2006, 11:02 AM
Well, Kevin
Look at the block animation done or to the animatics to get an idea of how it should copy the proxie.
I would say copy the proxie in size and proportion...
use castle element developed for the throne room, scale, colomn, arch etc.
and use sketches to add props , details etc.
Build the setup in an action if you can , using action object .
so we should be able to update element quickly later...
*** no link to throne room part, or work on the original throne room parts , use copy in your own SVN dir.
Thanks

Hi Marcos,
For the wiki website, where you'll find information about hoew to setup the SVN etc.
try this link :
http://wiki.hash.com/two/published/HomePageAbout SVN, you'll need to download a freeware named; turtoise and have AM v13.
the full project download is quite big but you can choose which part you want in the AM option panel.

Hi ,
Have you set the directory you want to upload in the AM option ? there is a SVN panel now .
It is where you can set your local root and the directory you wish to download...
maybe your problem is there ?
do you have some directory there or what ? :
C:\Documents and Settings\Xtaz\Meus documentos\TWOData Receive command sent to SVN client.
-delete those directory...\TWOData Receive command sent to SVN client.
if there is any folder like this...
-Create a TWO project folder at root of your C drive
-Once done target this folder into AM option SVN panel for your local directory
and try again ?
hope this would help...
Thanks

You can reuse Rodger's throne room arches and pillars since it's inside the castle...

Does anyone know of a way to copy a modified action object exactly with any changes made in the action?

you should be able to copy the changes by selecting and copying the keyframes.

I wasn't able to copy a Model-bone keyframe from a choreography to an action object. You might be able to import the throne room assembly action into your action...
Rhett
alweb
Jun 21 2006, 03:56 PM
I don't know, but import an action into another should be something possible ?.
There's another issue of the same kind that I would like to mention.
If you got (let say) a pillar used as action object
that pillar have some bones and you modify the pillar shape in the action directly
like translate, scale, rotate etc.
Now you add more of this pillar as action object like a dozen...
and you want all pillars to have the same "shape" as the first you did with the bone manipulation
I was under the impression that if I select the root bones and copy keyframe of that action object , I would be able to paste coordinate to other pillar used as action object...
But it doesn't work... It should cause everything is the same ? ....it's the same model I mean...
Hum ! if you have to enter all XYZ coordinates of scale, translate and rotate so 3 X 3=9 fields , let say on 3 bones per pillar so 9 X 3 = 27 coordinates ...if you want 12 pillars for 12 X 27 = 324 coordinates ! quite time consuming it's the least we can say !
...
Usually I don't go as far

and I create a special pillar already modified so...
anyway it's just to illustrate the thing.
I would be a nice feature to add...what do you think ?Am I lost in the field or ?
Thanks

Al

Jun 22 2006, 02:02 AM
That's what I'm trying to do Al. And I can't get Marcel's suggestion to work. So, I guess it's number pasting time....and a feature request in AM:Reports.

Right, I made abit of progress on this set. Al, I was thinking of adding railings at the top...I guess they'd be the same as the throne room.....then maybe just copy and flip the whole room so there are two staircases. I'd make the room seem bigger and make it seem like a central hallway that leads to several rooms.

Thanks Ken,
Look at the animatics and do only what is needed...put your eye in the camera point of view
...for the rest , I'm sure you'll do it great !
...just a comment :IMHO bigger you'll made the corridor , lower the " impact" of the throne room will be...
edit :mmm? after all, it can be very big , if we keep lights focused on character and low ....I mean with lights effect we can preserve the "surprise" of the throne room ?
keep us posted

Ok, I extended the walkway out abit so the camera can pan if it needs to. Left to do: Something ornate round the windows and add the railings.
The columns and arches are Rodger's handiwork.

It look good Ken!
As you said a window frame and the railing will be cool.
I'm not sure if the stairway should be close to the wall ...maybe just right to the wall ? the little space between the two seem odd?
have you plan to blend the arch to the wall in some way ?
I think the curtain placement and shape should be re-design in a fancy way.
maybe under the first floor ,between the arch some curtain would look nice ,...close the space
...what about some frame on the wall for big paints ?
look at the wiki site...I've done sketches of misc castle throne room...it give idea for curtain and stuff to put on wall...
a last thing , the chair are too big...look like throne.
nice start Ken

Hey Al,
You're right, the space between the wall and stairs does seem odd. But rather than stick the staircase closer to the wall in the corner, I'd rather make it more central. Right up infront of the windows. I think it would make it more grand. I'll do that and see what you think.
The arches just need to be made the same colour/material as the walls....other wise they blend. I guess I could do that as the models are different to the ones used in the throne room.
I'm not sure of your plans for the "curtains", but they're meant to be murals with pictures of the characters on them. However, I think showing Tinman or Scarecrow before the throne room would be careless. Maybe images of the lion? What do you think now you know they're murals/tapestries?
Good idea about curtains under the platfrom. I'll put them behind so as not to hide the arches.
I can make some frames yes. Also, I was thinking.....some coats of arms/suit of armour/statues of a character.
I'll see if I can modify the chairs. I'd like to keep them the same style as the throne though. Not just for continuity but I also think Tinman's character would want everyone to feel like a King in his castle.

I'll post another soon......

Okay folks... Rodger's updated throne room is on SVN for everyone.
Beautiful stuff Rodger... TWO thumbs up!

Jun 24 2006, 08:57 AM
Thanks Jody. Here's an update. Still decor like paintings and statues to add. And do something with the arches like above.
KenH
Jun 24 2006, 03:52 PM
Jody/Rodger.....the new props for the throne room all have v13 appended to their names. Now they have to be relocated on all the animation projects/chors.
The easiest fix would be to rename (using svn software) each model and deleting the "v13" off the name.
