We've got some animators moving onto Act II. In particular, we need the rooms modeled for Act II Sequence 1. Could someone please volunteer to take charge of this set. I know a lot of the props have already been made, but they haven't been brought together yet.

Hi ,

So there is no proxie done for this scene ?
If not , the animator should create their own proxie ? not a big problem.

Some castle final geometry are available in the SVN throne room. it could help
...they can be used on a proxie room ( action assembly ) by any animator.

**** Just remind to keep thing in order in the SVN dir, duplicate the files into a "bedroom" directory first .
Modeler would take your proxie set further as a starting point for final modeling ... no problemo.

If nobody come in line for this final set...we would put it on our do list
with the throne, the garden , the corridor ... etc

Thanks anyway
Al

BTW , anybody who wish to start the "garden set" ,the "corridor set " , "the bedroom " is welcome
...put your name here or PM me for details.
Where are the modeling volunteer list. ? wink.gif

Hi Paul,
Would you need some sketches ?
I would look at this , if you wish.

Thanks

Ok,
I've look at the animatic, and there seem to be two bedroom isn't it
one for tinman another for the scarecrow...

I'll draw some sketches on this if nobody raise the hand wink.gif

Thanks

Well, we could do the old hollywood trick where we use the same room, but re-dress it. That's not a lot of work saved, but we only need these for a couple shots.

Suddenly something is coming to my mind.

I remember that at the crossing road of loonville, Tinman,Scarecrow and Woot
take a rest...they camp at night , Woot have to sleep.
Scarecrow and Tinman stay awake since they doesn't have to sleep ever.

Tinman have some blablabla around this state etc.

So the fact that , they had sleep in bedroom at castle before, doesn't ring you a little bell ?

This has probably been changed in some way...something that I've miss...
Can you confirm that arc...or it is still like I've described upper ?

Thanks
Al

Hmm....good point. Eagle eyed Al. biggrin.gif The beds are a Bob addition. I think the dialogue about them not needing sleep is still in there too.....
alweb
...I don't know but if this arc still exist , I would keep the bedroom and just change the problematic dialogue with something else.

Maybe it could be changed to "We don't need sleep but sometimes do so because there's not many people around at night".....

Here are a couple WIP sets that I have been designing for my own use. Niether are finished but it is simply something to give you an idea of my 'skill'. If I can be of any help let me know.

If the Witch house is still open I'd be very interested in tackling it.

Hey Lloyd;

I will use this opportunity to explain one of the difficulties we are having with this project: finding Champions. A Champion determines what is needed to get a set ready for animation, and makes sure that it gets done. A Champion doesn't have to model everything but they do need to get everything modeled. It's not a giant task, nor does it take much time but it does require organization and commitment.

As an engineer, Lloyd, you've probably got the organization and management skills to be a Champion. In fact, the bedroom in this set already has a proxy, and some of the models have been built. You could check out what's on SVN, review the old postings, read the script, watch the animatic... Ask Paul Daley (he was the Animation Director on this sequence before he went MIA) what was/is happening.

So, please, those of you wanting to contribute but are anxious because there seems to be a lack of leadership, why don't you become a Champion? You'll get to know the other artists on your team, and you can be proud to get something you managed onto the screen.

I'll help by answering your questions and offering management advice. Also... be patient.

Funny you should mention the Animatics. I just got finished going over them. I've also been reviewing the dotproject listing and I'm suprised at how much stuff needs to be done. I'm also suprised at lack of people involved. I know people have things to do (I'm at work right now) but this is an oppurtunity. It took me a while to make up my mind, but you can count me in. If you need someone to head up this department I'd be more than happy to do so. I'll start reviewing what's in the works and what needs to be done and start figuring out what direction this needs to be going in.

Thank you, Lloyd. That's just what we need. I think volunteers will be more forthcoming if we had more management. I wouldn't have thought that this "leadership" issue would have been our biggest challenge when we started this project but now that we're moving along, I can see why. The biggest thing to be aware of is that you've got to be ready to do all the work yourself if nobody else materializes but so far it's been my experience that if you're clearly making something happen then other people will help if asked.

I don't mind starting on Act II Sequence 1. I have a copy of the script and will start going over it along with the concept art we have. I would like to be able to access the Wiki so who do I see about gaining access. I'll be handling some of the modeling myself, sets, props, etc,. whatever we need to get the ball rolling.

As for Tinman and Scarecrow sleeping, perhaps the do it for pure asthetics (ie to be more like 'normal' folk)

This sequence has been significantly shortened, so check with the script in the Wiki (2_01). Do you want access to dotProject or the Wiki or both?

Tin Woodman doesn't sleep (he just gets polished by Tin Servant). He doesn't need a bed in his room.
There is already a Scarecrow bed modeled.
I think the bathroom scenes have been dropped (but check!)
Contact Rhett for details if you can't get ahold of Paul.
Keep asking questions until you can take the reins.

It would be helpful if I could have access to both. I'll contact Rhett first thing(what's his user name--scratch that, just found it). I've been reading up on what's been done so far and what still needs to be done. I must say the quality of the work is outstanding so far.
