Full Version: are camera actions duplcatable

Curious but it seems that my camera doesn't accept actions, why ?
so when I want to make a movie with different actions for a cam
its not working.
Also another problem, motion paths are not objects, why again,
u can not duplicate import and do anything if u don't open the prj or cho file
in a text editor and duplicate by hand, digging into the lines.
I did lots of things thinking that the soft would handle actions like other nla
events for the camera...and it is not... once again could somebody tell me where I am wrong?
benzene
well good the import action option doesn't work with the camera nor with the null objects.
Error implementing classes ? I think all objects should inherit from an animatable object that
would handle all the properties of a 3d object. Any object should be able to become a camera
for example or a light source.
Anyway this won't be listened so I will do as I can, as usual.

ben,
Perhaps if you slowed down a little someone could help you.. biggrin.gif
I read your post 3 times and didn't get where you were going (yes I'm a little slow).

Try listing what you need to do, one thing at a time,

1. Need to....
2. Tried...

easy

on a chor
get a camera and go into its first chor action

-draw a path
-add a constraint on camera to this first path
- tweak ease and enforcement on 24 frames or else no matter how many

rename the chor action as "first trip"

add another chor action

- draw another path
- add another constraint to the camera inside this chor action to the new path of course
- tweak ease and enforcement on 24 frames or else no matter how many

if you need now to cycle between the two paths, or any nla cut,
you should go to the timeline and change the chors action's "start" and "end"
and leave them as they are. Ie using the camera as if it was a model.
But... it doesn't work you have to move the ease keyframes to make the action work...
Meaning
I can not reuse camera motion on camera. if anyone has a clue?

Ben,
1. If I understand you correctly, you want to use 2 paths,
2. You want to transition to the 2nd path
3. You want to export the camera action then import it back into the chor.

I tried it and it didn't work either.
If you want to loop the camera path, you need to edit the ease on the constraint to path.
When you get to the place in the timeline you want the camer to re-run the same path, set the ease to back to 0% and the camera will be back at the begining. Go to the correct place in the timeline and set the ease at 100 %
If you are using more than one path you will need to make sure the enforcement is set correctly.

Hope this helps.

make non-rendering object. Embed camera in said object. save actions for object.

make non-rendering object. Embed camera in said object. save actions for object.

well I spent all the evening yesterday finding a solution.
The best one was to draw one path into the landscape object, embed a camera inside this landscape
add bones to the path, this way I could simply affect only one constraint to path, with its poses (forward backward slope) that I never touch then I could do actions and inside the action bend the path as I want without drawing another path and keeping the same starting point.
I do one action then save it, then open it and change the shape of the path to reach a new point then save as new etc...
now I can update my scene with things like all the objects aim roll to camera as an action.
Its the best way I found for working smart, but it was damn hard, not really logic but seems to be the
"object oriented" way.

Now I just need to make a good looking light under cracking ground, I use an object and a material
but I don't know how to assign a pose to a material in this software.

Thanks again for your help,
