I have uploaded A:M Materials to the SVN of the entire DarkTree Repository( The free Simbiont A:M darktrees). They should show up in your TWO LIBRARY.
When using them, use the "Tweaks" on the material shortcut to alter them to suit the surface you are texturing. Don't alter the material itself! That will let the same material be used on multiple surfaces in the project without having to keep up with a bunch of different materials.

For example here: the Fabric_Denim material is used for the blue hat as well as the green jacket.
KenH
Oh boys, oh boys. That's looking swell. Is it not possible to lock the main materials? But still be able to alter shortcuts to them....

Edit: I just tried them. They render pretty fast too!
Zaryin
Excellent! I think that's a great way of keeping consistant materials without having to have an instance for each piece of denim, or whatever mat.
zandoriastudios
scarecrow--ready for adventure!
KenH
Great work! I think some dirt (weather maps?) and particle straw would finish him off.
zandoriastudios
I would rather we didn't use weather maps...
I thought about adding some particle straw, but I figured we could do that later, once we get other character and sets textured and see how it is coming together.
mtpeak2
Will, that looks fantastic. I don't know about the denim hat though.

I just had to play with the darktree materials.

zandoriastudios
Creepy! I'm hoping she doesn't pop out of that apron!
martin
Whoa! Mrs. Yoop scares the piss out of me.
mtpeak2
Am I the only one having fun with this?
Paul Forwood
Superb!!!
The roof could use something with texture in it and the fat guy's shirt could use more of a weave but, Wow! It's coming alive!
Can I get at those textures without going to the SVN?

These images should go into a TWO folder in A:M Stills so that they cycle across the tops of peoples screens in other parts of the forum!
mtpeak2
Thanks Paul. You can get the materials from the darktree website repository, they're free. The materials on the buildings were just slapped on, I didn't spend too much time on them, they're only the proxy models. Yeah, the fat guys shirt needs something. As I said before, I'm just playing, I don't think these will be used, unless Will want to.
KenH
Wow Mark. They look great to me. I hate colouring....find it a chore....and the result is usually a mess. biggrin.gif

Good idea about the images on the top of the screen Paul.
zandoriastudios
I'm liking it Mark! Keep going--we can always tweak or change later, but right now I am hoping to get as much stuff "colored" in as we can!
mtpeak2
Thanks Will and Ken. I have this all embedded in a project, I didn't want to save to svn. I guess saving the model will keep the materials, right?
mtpeak2
I don't mind doing it, I'm having fun, but if there are others working on it too, I don't want to override any of their work on the svn. Right now I'm working on the witch. If noone else is doing the characters, I could probably have most of the them done by the weekend.
Zaryin
Wow, it's really wierd seeing something I modeled in grayscale get all colorful all of a sudden. I am liking the way it's going smile.gif.
Paul Forwood
Wow! I've downloaded the Darktree Repository.
What an amazing free collection of awesome materials!
Thanks to all!
zandoriastudios
Is there a way to see who has an asset "checked-out"? to keep from two people texturing the same object?
mtpeak2
Well, actually the texturing needs to be assigned through dotproject, I shouldn't being doing it until it is assigned to me. Assigning it will keep track of who is doing what, if it's not in your "to do" list, then you don't do it. I guess I'll hold off on this for now.
zandoriastudios
I was supposed to try and assign the texturing through dot project, but It is beyond me (dot project). So go ahead and do it!
mtpeak2
Ok Will.
mtpeak2
Well here's the witch. Not quite happy with the skin yet though. Used the basic colors Colin had.
MMZ_TimeLord
EEEK! ... careful when you post those mtpeak2!!! I think I have to change my underwear now... tongue.gif
mtpeak2
I'll start on Nick Chopper and Chopfyt next.
mtpeak2
Here's Nick Chopper and Chopfyt. I need to work on my lighting skills.
mtpeak2
Here's another one.
Rodney
Go Mark! Its really great to see these characters in color.
You are as speedy with texturing as you are with rigging!

...and where the heck is Nancy?
KenH
Stunning stuff. If these are the first "tests", imagine how they'll look by the end of the process!
I can't wait to see them with particle hair.
Paul Forwood
Wow, again!!!
Your doing a great job, Mark!
That Nick Chopper makes me think of Hawaii Five O. :-D
Keep 'em coming.
mtpeak2
Thanks guys. Ken particle hair is on my list. After getting basic textures setup, I have 2 more models to rig, then it's time for particle hair.
mtpeak2
Well, here's one more.
mtpeak2
Boy, this one was easy. tongue.gif
mtpeak2
Ok, I had enough for today.
KenH
Wow again. Are those new eyes in Woot? And I think the cows udder should be pink.
Rodney

And the cow's bell silver or gold instead of pink! mad.gif
No rest for the weary Mark! tongue.gif

You sir are an inspiration.
It's going to be awhile before I can connect to SVN again but am looking forward to playing with Will's Texture Library. Looks like entirely too much fun.

Love the Woot!
mtpeak2
Ken, I didn't change the eye's and I wasn't sure about the udders.

Rodney, Rodney, Rodney, the bell is the default COPPER material from darktree. If you really want it gold or silver I can do that just for you Rodney. wink.gif

smile.gif Consider me educated.

Note to self: Darktree simbiont COPPER material might make a nice utter color. hehe
mtpeak2
Well, here you go guys, here's the changes you requested. biggrin.gif
Rodney
Everyone all together now.... Mooooooo! smile.gif

scarecrow--ready for adventure!

Hey Will!

is the background just a shot that he is placed in?

Havent been keeping up with the texturing.
kuep
great work for the first run by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

totally impressed, eyes are watchin!

mtpeak2
Changed material on Nick's jacket to darktree.
mtpeak2
Here's tin servant. I may need some art direction on color scheme. Let me know what you think.
mtpeak2
Woots mom.
KenH
Nice work Mark.
Just to reiterate my concern about the textures being on the other model to the proxy models. When it comes to animating the faces, will the materials slow down the realtime feedback?

Materials are not part of real-time, so they have no effect. (And Decals can be turned off).
zandoriastudios
I added some Eye materials to Woot, Nimmee, Mom, Fat farmer, Skinny Farmer, Nick, and Servant.

Mark, I also adjusted the material scale in some of yours. Nice work, by the way smile.gif
mtpeak2
Thanks Will. I didn't adjust the scale of the skin materials, now I know what to set it at.

I'm also going through the groups folder and organizing them, they're a mess right now. It tough to find what you're looking for and alot of duplicates and empty groups.
mtpeak2
Will, as I was going through organizing the groups folders of the models, I noticed that the materials of scarecrow are gone. Mark Strohbehn did an update to the face rig after your upload of scarecrow with materials, he must of overridden your file. I don't know why this would be happening, he must be uploading his modified file wrong or is getting conflicts or an out of date error and when merging the files is removing other updates.
