Hi

I've look at the models available in the svn and see no final trees

Where are the research and stuff about final trees ?

Is Paul haven't do some nice one ? ... with a forest etc. ?
If there's no specific thread about trees , I suggest to regroup all resources about trees here

Thanks
Al

all the other tree and outdoor building environment threads
(let me know if I missed something we can add it here)

We need to have models art directed/ approved so that we can check them into SVN. Which means we need to create a test environment which
meets our needs technically and aesthetically for the film. I don't think anyone's gotten that far yet.

I've read through most of the tree treads and was wondering if you could use targa images on simple 2 patch panels?

Attached is an image of some of the tree images I regularly use. They work particularly well for distance shots.

Hi
hehee ! cool !
Can we get those trees models posted into the SVN into a general tree folder ?
\data\Shared Data\Models\Set_chors\general trees

So we can start from and modify it as needed for the set

Javier concept are great...the kind of goal to acheive isn't it ?
Frank and Paul trees look great for mid to closer view
David one look good for forest and far view

After building the winkee village as final... texturer and lighter would be able to work on too
and the look will refine ... mood test would occure at this step ? what do you think ?
we can use the final winkee-village as the environment test , as Frank said

Frank, Paul, David ? are you available to work on the winkee-village final set ?
It's the first set of the movie and it will establish lot of the mood so we need experience!

Any other who want to work on it , please report to duty !
hehehe

It's because you made that bip bip sound. ;-)

Very nice looking trees, Dave!

I had a go at using Franks method to produce a few deciduous trees for Nimme's house scene. I think this one needs a few more leaves, but this way seems promising. Do you reckoni ts worth finishing and uploading to svn?

Hey Chris,
it's a good start. Use one of Bob's drawings or one of the concept paintings and make your tree look like one of those trees. A few tips: make sure that the leaf texture has a a good bit of detail in it...even use real leaves (photo), also space the patches with the leaf decal on them far enough apart so that they can cast shadows on eachother. That is a big part of the effect. Also, check out the latest version of my tree that I uploaded the previous version had a problem with the patches flipping during certian camera moves. The current version does not have that problem. Also, use a detailed bark texture. And definitely check it in when you finish it. :-)

PS You actually need to paint some light and shadow into the texture to push the effect.

Cool Thanks Frank
I will get on with that.
