I really like the new Ambient Occlusion feature. I have never been able to get such nice clean GI renders like this. Its fast too this render takes 16minutes with 60% sampling. With one klieg light and gradient material for the floor.

Is Ambient Occlusion available in AM 2005? Can you post a link to a tutorial on this? Thanks.

Sweet! Is AM 2006 V13? I have AM 2005.

Technically, the 2006 CD is a subscription key that unlocks anything released by Hash in the 2006 calendar year (and a little beyond).

Since Hash, Inc. generally increments the version number once a year, A:M 2006 is v13, for conversational purposes.

So, basically yes.

Man...so now I have to update to 2006?? I guess having AO support is worth it.

Yes and no.

Right now, people with the 2005 CD (that's you) can install and play with the v13 Alpha for 2005 CD. So you can start rendering with AO right now, if you like (although, like any pre-alpha software, there are still a lot of bugs in there).

But Hash makes no guarantees that future releases of v13 will run with the 2005 CD. I'm assuming they won't. Right now they're just being nice.

BE WARNED: The model format has changed in v13, so if you save a copy of your model when using v13, you won't be able to open it back up in v12. So please make a copy first.

If you have the "Witch" on your cd, you can still use v13 for a limited time. It's also on the download page. But it will seize being supported in a few months.

I do have the witch on my instalation CD. How do I get access to v13? Limited time being weeks or months? Thanks.

Right here: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20219

Edit: There is a (20-day?) time limit, but Hash also provides a utility for PC users to bump the limit setting on the alpha version:
http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20219&st=0&#

The bottom line is, you will need to get the $99 upgrade eventually, if you want to use AO in A:M.
