I'm still using 11.1 so I haven't tried some of the new lighting techniques. I hope to upgrade in a few days, and try AO. Meanwhile, I'm still learning radiosity. It's great. One thing I found is that more accurate lighting certainly points out flaws in modelling. In the attached example this is obvious. The flaws around the windshield base didn't show until I rendered it in radiosity. The entire canopy will have to be rebuilt and I'll have to make a few other changes. comments welcome.

That looks great. You can also see the navy decal on the other side through the window shield.

That's right Ken. I have to close in the cockpit, put in a seat and headrest, and add machine guns to the wings, and a few more bump lines. I'm still learning how to apply bump maps and and so on.

Where's Pappy?
Didn't he drive a corsair?
I like the Radiosity render...

Yup, he sure did. He and the other Black Shhep.

EDIT: Sheep that is.
Sheep that is, not Shhep.

Nice model, Are you using a rotoscope? I say because the proportions look a little off. keep working on it though, you can join the dogfight with me and an australian user!

I used a rotoscope for dimensions only. But I think it was innaccurate. I believe the prop assembly, including the nose cone, is too large by about 20 to 25 percent. I intend to correct that. There was a Corsair here at the local airport for many years (Canadian Watrplane Heritage) but it was sold several years ago. So my local reference is gone.

Thanks Charlie, Copied those. The first has more cross sections through the fuselage.
Appreciate it.

Forgive my ignorance, but how is radiosity different from a render out of the box? I don't mean visually, but the actual render to file settings.

Because you're loosing all these rays into space, the normal calculation for surface area and photon samples doesnt work, and you pretty much have to eyeball radiosity done outside of a closed area.

You need to turn Radiosity to ON in the Choreography Properties.
